The Stars had their moments in what was a virtual shoot fest of a game with little or no defensive tactics and not a lot of offensive build up play and were in fact ahead entering the final 9 minutes. Photo: Charlie E. Jackson/VINO

SEA COW’S BAY, Tortola, VI - Bayside Blazers last evening September 28, 2014 won by forfeiture at the Honourable Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League, its sixth win in the competition, after Pilipino threw in the towel by failing to appear for the game.

Many teams continue to dread playing the Bayside Blazers in the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League. The Bayside Blazers is already predicted to be the League Champion having now only to get pass Da 3rd and Avengers which they are expected to do easily in their division.

Then it will be on to possibly Knights, and Talk Done two teams Bayside Blazers easily defeat in the regular season despite having some of their big guns down due to injuries or Ruff House in the Eastern Division who holds the 2013 Championship title. Thus far the Bayside Blazers lead their division with 6 wins and 1 controversial loss to Game Boyz by one point.

Further, a shorthanded and lack lustre Ruff House were pushed deep into the 4th quarter by the Snr. Young Stars before running out 107-86 winners on Sunday.

The match played at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom was more important to the Stars than even they seemed to realise as only 5 players turned up for the game which they had to win to open up some breathing space in the race for playoff qualification.

With the defeat they have now opened the door for Top Shottas and Desert Storm to nip in and steal the 4th and final berth. Ruff House stay top with Talk Done in second and the Knights third.

The Stars had their moments in what was a virtual shoot fest of a game with little or no defensive tactics and not a lot of offensive build up play and were in fact ahead entering the final 9 minutes.

However despite being ahead again with just over 7 minutes to go a Stars Time Out, which many in the crowd thought was ill timed and many others thought was a good call, seemingly knocked the wind out of their sails and allowed Ruff House to storm back into the game and grab the victory.

The top Scorers for Ruff House were Ashield Frett with 23 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks, Kervin Robin with 22 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 9 steals, 1 block, Kishaun Fahie with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as well as Roger Farrington with 16 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals.

The Young Stars were led by Malique Thomas’ 22 points, 19 rebounds, 1 steal and 6 blocks, Dwayne Stoutt’s 22 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks and also Tafari Winchester’s 19 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals and Kaemoy Thomas’ triple effort of 13 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 12 steals.
