PHOTO of Day: The last Supper? Dr. Smith & Hon Skelton on recent Asia trip

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The photo was taken in the days of ‘Kumbaya,’ between Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL), and his Health and Social Development Minister, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL), both founding members of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

The photo, taken in Asia on a recent trip—between June 2 and 17, 2018—also shows BVI Ambassador to Asia, Elise Donovan and Dr Smith’s wife Lorna G. Smith OBE, who is still the interim Director of BVI Finance.

In the little Territory of less than 30,000 residents, there are always half-truths, fake news and rumours.

Word on the street nonetheless, is while Hon Skelton was in Asia with his boss, Honourable Myron V. Walwyn (AL,) the Education and Culture Minister, was on the ground back home working the Delegates’ List for the NDP Presidency, with the reported support and blessings of Dr. Smith.

Just political gossip?

This week, the reports are ripe with more political gossip of who is planning to leave the ruling NDP and join another group, retire and downright unhappy that Hon Walwyn is the new NDP Chairman/Leader.

So, after all the trips together, smiles and longevity of service, relationships seem not to carry much weight, as it appears that all are singing ‘Kumbaya,’ when it's convenient.

But as far as all the political gossip goes, we caution, if is not officially reported by Virgin Islands News Online, it may just wild speculations.

Well Ronnie, it was the leaders of Government of the day who crucified Christ, so who are you? Jehovah is still in control. Every dog has his day.

Orlando tricked Ronnie. He carried him China and allowed Myron to campaign free as a bird. What a decietful man the Premier has turn out to be.

When bad things happen to good-hearted people, they find someway to forgive and move on. Ronnie is not a man who practices skullduggery, so these boys will beat him everytime if that’s the order of the politics today. He might as well retire indeed.
