Penn’s double-double leads Gameboys to big win!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Gameboys certainly came with their ‘A’ game as they registered a runaway 99-65 victory over the Phillipinas when the BVI Basketball Federation’s Summer League continued on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

The first half of the game was fairly close with the shorthanded Phillipinas staying in touch with the Gameboys. The 1st quarter had ended 23- 17, but the 2nd ended 13-13 and at the break the Gameboys had a slender 36-30 advantage.

The 3rd quarter proved decisive though as the Gameboys were able to hit a massive 37 points to reach the final period up 73-47. The 4th quarter became almost a 3-point contest by the Gameboys as they completely controlled the game to finish with a 34-point victory margin.

Regg Penn finished with 33 points and 13 rebounds to top the scoring charts. Terry Charles netted 23 points, Shaquille Fonseca 22 and Anthony Hodge 16 with 16 rebounds.

For the Phillipinas, Deangelo Sampson had 28 points with 9 rebounds.

Last night’s second game was a low scoring affair eventually won by All Ah Wee, 57-54, over the Lions. Jevan Serrant top scored with 21 points and 15 rebounds, whilst Sean Woods had 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.

For the Lions, Nicols Charles had 15 points, Dudley Richardson 13 and Tyron Tyson 7 points and 12 rebounds.

On Tuesday Night, the Skulls beat the HLSCC Stingrays 99-66 on the back of 23 points from Shamoii Dagou. William Penn Junior added 12 points with 7 rebounds and Roger Farrington finished with 12 points.

For the Stingrays, Tyree Maduro had 12 points and both Shakeem Freeman and Li’Shaquah Fahie finished with 10 points each.

Mega Mix also had a crushing victory, 93-60, over the Pure Playaz. Douron Phillip doubled with 24 points and 12 rebounds. He also picked up 7 steals as did Halstead Chiverton.

Chiverton added 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 steals to his night’s work whilst Bjorn Caleb and Tavon Phillip also doubled, Caleb notching 18 points and 20 rebounds and Phillip 14 points and 15 rebounds.

For the Playaz, Mervin Potter Junior finished with 19 points and Shem Samuel 11 points and 12 rebounds for the game’s 4th double.
