You will recall that two Category 5 hurricanes struck the Virgin Islands in the month of September 2017, taking off almost all galvanised roofs from houses and businesses and knocking out electricity to the entire Territory.

All was not lost; however, as thanks to a partnership between Government and a private business, affected local businesses in some areas were given assistance with alternative electricity.

The business owners in the Brewer’s Bay area of Tortola now extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Doctor The Honourable D. Orlando Smith, Premier, “for making available generators to our businesses, particularly during this period while the area is still without electricity,” according to the owners of Icis Villas, Icis and Vernon Malone.

Business owners in the Brewer’s Bay area also thank the Bank of Asia (BVI) Limited for donating 50 generators to the Government of the Virgin Islands for distribution to local businesses. “This is an excellent venture and we are grateful for this support.

“The professional handling of this venture by the Department of Trade and Investment Promotion also impressed us.”
