ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The ‘One Love’ Football Club (FC), is officially, the 2018 Men’s National Champions of the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

The victory is the first such for ‘One Love’ FC since coming into existence just under 10 years-ago in the Territory.

The Jamaican grown ‘One Love’ team had never won the coveted, ‘BVI National Men Championship’ trophy and in fact, had in recent years been plagued by an internal dispute within the club that led to a change in their manager to Marc Savage.

Ever since ‘Marc’ took over however, the Football Club has looked ‘like a different side,’ described since the beginning of the 2018 National league, as ‘simply brilliant.’

Having drawn only to Sugar Boys FC out of Virgin Gorda in the first round of games and a hard loss to Islanders FC the 2017 champions—in a very controversial game—the ‘One Love’ team has since rallied around Captain, Richard Morgan—who has proved to be a stabilising force to the team.

Great Leadership

‘One Love,’ always an exciting team to watch, also  rallied behind their new manager, Marc Savage and captain Richard Morgan, to play the second half of the 2018 National League undefeated, with Captain Morgan, leading the team from the front  in goal scoring.

Speaking with manager Marc Savage about their golden season this year, he exclaimed, “…this is a very special year for us because we came a very long way and it is the first time in the history of the club that we have won the National championship trophy.”

He said, “I have always felt we have been a bit unlucky as a club over the years plus we have never ever seemed to get past Islanders, even this year was tough and left casualties from the game; but this year we found a way and won the league.”

Captain Richard Morgan was also very vocal thanking coach Savage, for his great leadership this year, especially, the way he handled the bench so professionally and was able to get the best out of each individual player.

The Jamaican bred ‘One Love’ team, displayed a similar style of play to their mentors the Reggae Boys, Jamaica’s National Team, playing every game with much excitement and flair; playing very few games where they did not score a goal.

‘One Love’ will start next year’s league as the team to beat and no doubt everyone will be gunning after the 2018 National Champions ‘One Love FC.’
