The combo of Edwin and Beazer finally began to put some more distance between the teams in the fourth quarter with another couple of fast breaks and after a full minute of no scoring Edwin made it a 10 point game with 2 free throws after being fouled by Lettsome. DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - After its disputed and controversial defeat last week to Game Boyz by 1 point, the team to watch in the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League Bayside Blazers had its game plan on with yet another victory this time over Talk Done with a score of 83 – 76 on Friday September 12, 2014.

They defeated Talk Done even with one of their big guns Sandy E. Nadal out due to injury which occurred during an earlier game.

A low scoring first quarter, which ended 15-13, set the tone for a match that failed to live up to its pre game billing, but proved to be one of great importance to the Blazers as they were able to overcome a tricky first game after the defeat to Game Boyz.

The difference between the two sides was quickly evident as Asim Z. C. Beazer and Deon J. Edwin in the second quarter, when after Lyle W. Duggins sank a “3” for the Blazers, Edwin made the gap 5 and Beazer 7 as both players combined on fast breaks.

Rowan Victor did keep his team in the game with a score from inside, but overall he spent too much time on the bench to make deep inroads into the Blazers defense. Beazer rebounded and popped in from an attempted “3” by Edwin, but Kevon Lettsome was also refusing to let the Blazers pull away and scored from under the basket to make it 26-22.

The score would then see saw until half time.

The third quarter began with Victor leveling the scores at 41-41, but the teams then exchanged more points before an Edwin splash from down town saw the Blazers pull ahead, 47-43. As in the first half though neither team could put together a decisive run and a Clint Weston long range shot reduced the Blazers advantage to just one point at 49-48.

It was still just a five point game heading into the last two minutes of the period, which was briefly made a seven point lead by Jolyon J. D. Wilson, but the buzzer would sound at 67-57 to the Blazers.

The combo of Edwin and Beazer finally began to put some more distance between the teams in the fourth quarter with another couple of fast breaks and after a full minute of no scoring Edwin made it a 10 point game with 2 free throws after being fouled by Lettsome. Lennie Caines made it a 12 point game and the biggest lead of the contest was established by Rhodni A. Skelton, who popped in a two to make it 76-64.

Talk Done mounted a mini comeback inspired by Victor, but even though they got back to within 6 points, the clock was against his team as were their handling skills in the last couple of minutes and the game was done, with a final score of 83-76.

Edwin finished with 27 points and 9 rebounds, Beazer 19 points with 5 rebounds, Shakeem E. Freeman 14 points and Wilson 5 points with 7 rebounds.

Talk Done were led by Victor’s 23 points and 5 rebounds as well as 10 points and 8 rebounds from Tad Martin. Lettsome finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, whilst Lyndon Chiverton had 8 points and 5 rebounds.
