ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The British Virgin Islands Motor Sports Association (BMSA) says it will not be holding any Car and Bike Show this year's Easter but has assured that the event would be held next year.

A press release from the GMSA did not state what were the reasons for the cancellation but said the body was looking forward to the Summer Car Show in August.

"We look forward to putting on exciting events during the coming year, and we know that the many Motor Sports fans and participants are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming shows, beginning with the Annual Easter Car Show. It is with deep regret, however, that we announce the cancellation of our annual Easter Show, which is usually held in Virgin Gorda. It shall resume in 2013. We fully understand the level of disappointment this will bring, but we want to assure everyone that this decision was made after a great deal of thought and compromise.

We expect to have our Annual Summer Car Show, Saturday August 4th, 2012 on Tortola, with local and regional participants from St. Thomas, St. Croix, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, Antigua, Anguilla, St. Maarten and Nevis. The venue would be posted at a later date," the press release stated.

Below is the continuation of the press release

BMSA and its participants in the various shows are hard-working and competitive people with a love for motor sports. Each day, sick and/or elderly persons are in need of assistance, and often require the physical support provided by equipment such as wheelchairs and we feel that the BVIMSA can make a difference in the lives of persons who may be either temporarily or permanently disabled. Following discussions with many individuals, we have decided to make equipment donations to the Senior Citizens Residence and Virgin Gorda Clinic.

We take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our supporters, and our valuable sponsors without whom none of our events would be possible.
