NDP cannot run on their record- Rajah A. Smith
Mr Smith told listeners that in the last few weeks there has been a lot of chatter from the National Democratic Party (NDP), however it is “clear that they cannot run on their record of; do nothing for three long years but blame the previous government, tax the poor and the middle class to death –yes the 99 % of us and engage in reckless conflict of interest”.
NDP record of do nothing but blame previous government
Mr Smith, who is seeking the VIP nomination through its Congress to run At-Large in the 2015/16 general elections, told the public that “in fact, all we have gotten from the NDP for three long years is; we could not do anything for you in sports, in education, on sewerage, in health, in agriculture, in finding employment for youth, in bringing before you gun legislation, in fighting crime, fixing roads, bringing a better way of life for the 99% of you and in stimulating the economy because it’s the Virgin Islands Party’s fault”.
Mr Smith answers NDP excuses
However, Mr Smith, the VIP Ready Committee/Youth Arm President, brushed aside the excuses and the blame game of the ruling NDP and placed the blame squarely on their lap. He said “my answer to the NDP and their supporters is you have failed the people because of your own incompetence, lack of vision for the country and that you spent more time looking out for yourself and the 1% then the rest of us”.
He said he heard recently some chatter that the NDP is for all the people. According to Mr Smith, “that is rubbish…in fact the record is different, that is why they cannot run on their record”.
NDP record of Division
Smith, who was responding to a radio address by Honourable Marlon A. Penn (R8) that the NDP is for 100% of the people, told the listeners that “since taking office, the National Democratic Party has divided this country between rich and poor, black and white, and the haves and the have not”.
In giving examples, the Youth Master said, “ in the departure tax fee structure there is one free for locals and another for expat- that is discrimination and divisive”.
However, a female caller called to say that there was nothing wrong with giving those who are born here special privileges and noted that it is being done in other places. However, Mr Smith maintained his point that in his opinion the practice was discriminatory. Another caller was in support of Mr Smith saying that “the constitution does not allow discrimination”.
More examples of NDP dividing the country- Smith
In continuing in an opening statement on the VIP radio show ‘Let’s Talk’, the young businessman told the public that “in some areas on the Sister Islands and the smaller cays, our people do not have access to our beaches and fishing waters while others can put up signs disallowing our people from going into these areas that we have sailed in for years and where our people have fished and swam for years. That is the reality on the ground under an NDP government,” Smith said.
No subsidies for local ferry
According to Mr Smith, “the NDP government refuses to subsidise the local ferry services owned and operated by our own people but will rather propose to subsidise airlines just to expand the airport runway- a project that we are yet to see the cost benefits. This again shows how their polices have been divisive and so when they tell you they are for the 100% just check the record, because we are not buying the nice Madison Avenue written salesman speeches this time. We, especially the youth, are wiser than we were in 2011,” young Smith told the radio listeners.
The show was hosted by Virgin Islands Party President Carvin Malone and included the VIP Chairman Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) and former party boss and premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal OBE (R9).

Your belly hurting because you getting the sh..ting knowing that VIP doesn't stand a chance. We will eat you on the blogs and then spit you out come election day. Don't believe me? Just watch!
Take it from me, politricks is not a good game, and most of the politrickians are crooked, very crooked, but in our case, the NDP is the most focus group of men, in the history of the BVI. Remember I say 'group of men'. I didn't single out anyone.
I've been on this piece of rock from conception, I mean (in the womb) now I'm old enough and my common sense and conscience are working. Yes Rajah, patriotism is not what you wear.
Where were you in the years when the VIP were at the helm in the BVI? You are just a 'johnny come lately' chatting a whole lot of 'bull****) and the worst part is people would be lead astray because some people are driven by every wind of politricks.
Let the people who know.... speak
Rajah, even if the Honorable Dr was crooked, you still couldn't walk in his shoe, but he's not crooked so just imagine how hard it will be for you. You know, maybe we need a 'wake up call', maybe God will allow us to get the king we're asking for, just like in Bible days. The King, yes the King, one who listen to the ' witch of endor'
Let the people who knows.........speak
