ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – NAGICO Insurances is pleased to be propelling defending road racing champion, Mr Reuben J. A. Stoby as he competes in Antigua’s Run in Paradise Half Marathon on Sunday May 29, 2016.

Mr Stoby views his participation in Antigua as a wonderful opportunity for exposure as he continues to improve in the sport and also as useful preparation to defend his title in the Ceres Juices 10K Series which starts next month.

“NAGICO Insurances is pleased to support a man on a mission,” Ms Shaquilla K. Smith said of Stoby, who won the National 5K Championships on May 21, 2016.

Ms Smith, Customer Service Representative, said NAGICO believes that Mr Stoby will represent the road racing fraternity in the Virgin Islands well.

“Mr Stoby joins a long list of accomplished athletes supported by NAGICO who have done well internationally, including Joe Chapman, the Caribbean's top ranked squash player. We are happy to offer Mr Stoby the opportunity to participate at the regional level and encourage him to do so the NAGICO way, which is fast and fair,” Ms Smith stated.

Mr Stoby shared that he is in good form and is confident of doing well.

"I am most thrilled by this kind gesture by NAGICO Insurances. They are indeed fast, fair and always there," Mr Stoby said in acceptance of the sponsorship for the Antigua trip.

He described the course as mostly flat which would be a big relief considering the grueling Virgin Gorda Half Marathon course over a week ago.

“Hopefully I can maybe hit a personal best time,” Stoby added.

His personal best at half marathon is 1:26:58.

So far Mr Stoby has won the Dive BVI 5K and 10K Series on Virgin Gorda, the Blenheim Trust 5K Series and National 5K Championships on Tortola and placed second in the Virgin Gorda Half Marathon.

Last year, Mr Stoby ran unbeaten in 2 Miles, 5K and 10K races. His ultimate goal in road racing is to qualify for the Marathon at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

NAGICO Insurances is sponsoring the 2015 Road Racing Athlete of the Year for the second year.
