ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – “Nagico believes in serving the community and we have been doing this for many years now. This is the third vehicle that we have invested in as a donation for this purpose,” noted Managing Director of Nagico Insurances Mr Shan Mohamed.

Having given the first two vehicles to the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly, the insurance company donated the third last Friday February 13, 2014 to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) community policing group.

Speaking with this news site about this most recent effort of the company he heads, Mr Mohamed said “Nagico for the past 15 years has been consistently giving to the BVI community…. Nagico is not a company that has now started to give one and two things here and there; we have doing this for the past 15 years and our track record is there to show.”

Noting that the company’s commitment to the Virgin Islands (VI) is one that is unquestionable, Mr Mohamed said that they have recognised the importance of community policing.

He said there is no doubt that the population of the territory has grown immensely over recent years and so has the need for even more policing at various levels. “Community policing is a very important arm of any society and it promotes safety and more so fosters a better relationship with residents and the police officers and the force,” noted Mr Mohamed.

The donation was done at a Friday evening cocktail session held at the Governor’s House where most of the community police officers, Governor John S. Duncan OBE, Commissioner of Police Mr David Morris, and members of the Rotary Club of Road Town, which Nagico partnered with Nagico for the donation, were.

Mohamed said they have been doing a number of donations to the community via community service organisations, including the Rotary Club of Road Town and this will be the case again for their Health Fair that is scheduled for this weekend.

“Nagico staff is going to be there from 6:45am doing registration and being active in many other things, if we are not giving money we are giving physical service,” he said.

The Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday February 21, 2015 at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park starting at 7:00am. A second will be held on the sister island of Virgin Gorda at the Walters Recreational Park from March 14 to 21, 2015.
