Myron Walwyn’s attack on VINO staff is senseless, childish & distasteful!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Advance Marketing and Professional Services, the parent company of Virgin Islands News Online, was saddened to learn that government Minister Myron V. Walwyn, in his efforts to remain politically relevant, has attempted to include a staff member of our company in his disingenuous political statement released to selective media houses on July 9, 2013.
It is our understanding that his statement was supposed to be a response made by one of the many clients of Advance Marketing and Professional Services, the Third District Representative Honourable Julian Fraser RA.
In his statement Mr. Walwyn said, “in a July 8 statement released on behalf of the Representative for the Third District, Hon. Julian Fraser, by the mysterious John Leonard, who coincidentally is also the General Manager of Virgin Islands News Online….”
Advance Marketing and Professional Services Board of Directors regards this as a blatant, unwarranted attack on our General Manager and Marketing Executive, Mr. John E. Leonard.
Advance Marketing and Professional Services is a public relations, events and marketing company registered in the Virgin Islands and has many clients, including elected officials from both sides of the isles, political clients in St. Kitts, Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, and continues to handle public relations for many individual clients.
While most of our clients do not have access to the public purse to obtain a speech writer at $86,000 to cut and paste political garbage and propaganda, some of our clients can afford to hire us to dispatch a press release, as many other public relations and marketing firms do both locally and internationally for their clients in all parts of the globe.
Therefore, the baseless attack on our staff Mr. Leonard suggesting and implying that he is “mysterious” is unbecoming from someone in high office. As a person that the voters have asked to represent their interests in our House of Assembly, this action can only be described as nothing but simply shameful.
One can only conclude that this kind of behaviour suggests irresponsibility on the part of the Minister. Mr. Leonard, who operates from overseas like some three of our associates and other media partners, has never said publicly or privately anything disparaging about the Legislator and has not even met Mr. Walwyn!
Why then should Mr. Walwyn, in a political statement where he was claiming to be speaking for the Premier of the Virgin Islands and the National Democratic Party, draw our staff into this?
One could only now conclude that the Minister is launching another baseless attack on Virgin Islands News Online or has other motives to seek the attention of our esteemed Chairman and founder Mr. Julian Willock, as many continue to suggest.
We, therefore, request an explanation from Mr. Walwyn on the uncalled for attack on our staff and demand an apology within 48 hours.
In this difficult economic time for most residents, when many of our brothers and sisters and others who have come to live among us are being laid off from their jobs, the banks are repossessing cars, houses, businesses, equipment and land, when schools are in physical shambles, and Education is at an all time low in terms of success rate, this unprofessional behaviour by Mr. Walwyn is unacceptable.
At a time when most people are living from pay cheque to pay cheque, whenever they get one, along with most having to find two and three other jobs to survive, we would rather hear about solutions to these weighty issues from our Premier.
Regrettably, Mr. Walwyn for the past 19 months has not done anything in any of these areas, but instead is wasting tax payers’ dollars on the personnel of a Public Relations firm.
The people of the Virgin Islands are today ashamed to see the level of representation offered by Mr. Walwyn, where his focus is not on your needs, but his obsession with gaining political points and bringing attention to himself.
We continue to thank the many readers, advertisers and team of reporters for their consistent and unwavering support of our news site. Your steadfastness and strong support continue to keep us on the high road of professionalism and consistency and we remain very encouraged and humbled by your prayers and wise counsel.

Sometimes I don't like some of the things you do VINO but I'm behind you and any other media.
The first step to silencing people is getting rid of their communication channels.
Nowhere in the world a politician would win a battle with the media. Most successful politician try to embrace the media .public always depend on the media for transparency.
