Miss World BVI Kirtis K. Malone in Top 12 Talent Finals
Speaking exclusively with Virgin Islands News Online this morning September 17, 2013, Mr Grange said the committee is very excited and proud of the strides made so far by Ms Malone.
“We have every confidence that Kirtis will make the BVI proud. She has been a gleam of hope from the moment she was selected to represent the BVI at this pageant,” said Mr Grange.
Ms Malone had also gained bonus points by being a member of the ‘yellow team’ which won the sports challenge. There were four teams in the sports challenge.
“We all need to be celebrating this moment because she has made it this far despite the fact that she was not able to participate in the traditional dance segment because of customs delay with her costume in Indonesia. It shows that our girl is extremely impressive to this point,” added Mr Grange.
Her costume for the traditional dance segment did not make it to the venue on time due to an extended custom’s delay in Indonesia. “The BVI Beauty was set to perform a fun Mocko Jumbie routine choreographed by Heather Butcher and the BVI Sky Dancers,” Mr Grange added.
In a press release, the Miss World BVI Committee confirmed that the Virgin Islands representative and Miss World hopeful Kirtis Kassandra Malone has advanced as a Top 12 Talent Finalist.
In announcing the Top Twelve Talent Finalists, MissWorld.com indicated that, “This year at Miss World we have had an abundance of talent. Several auditions stages have taken place, with some truly wonderful performances put on by the contestants. The judges have had a hard task of narrowing the field down to a select few for the Talent Final, which will take place on Sunday 22nd of September,” stated the release.
The committee shared that Miss World BVI is extremely happy. “I am elated, I sang my heart out and though this is great for me, it is more an honor for me to make the BVI proud,” the release said.
This year the 12 finalists are split into three distinct groups. There are five singers, four dancers, and three musicians. Miss Malone was selected among the group of singers after she impressed the judges with her power vocals, singing Alexander Burke’s rendition of the classic Hallelujah.
Completing the group of singers are Australia, Indonesia, Ukraine and Wales with two other Caribbean Islands making the Talent Finals: Dominica and Trinidad & Tobago.
The Talent Finals is set for September 22, 2013.
It has been confirmed by Mr Grange that Miss Malone has competed in Beach Fashion, Sports & Fitness, Talent and Beauty with a Purpose.
Upcoming competitions include Top Model, World Fashion Designer Award and Peoples’ Choice.
Miss World British Virgin Islands says she continues to do her very best to make her Territory proud and thanks everyone for their unwavering support.
“Miss Malone, along with the Miss World BVI Committee, is reminding the BVI community to visit www.missworld.com and download the Miss World App in order to vote for Miss British Virgin Islands. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will automatically make it into the top six,” stated the press release.
The Miss World final is scheduled for September 28, 2013 at the Bali Convention Centre in Bali, Indonesia.
The Committee also acknowledges those who have made Miss Malone’s Ambassadorial representation possible: Official Sponsor: LIME BVI. Platinum Sponsors: Delta Petroleum, UMI Fashions, Ministry of Education and SRM Photography. Gold Sponsors: TMF BVI Ltd., Hon. Alvera Maduro-Caines, Hon. We are so PROUD of you sweetness !!
Now, how is it possible for her to miss a segment? I am upset about that because it reduced her chances of winning.
