Miss BVI 2013 Rosanna K. Chichester yet to receive prizes!
Contacted by Virgin Islands News Online, Ms Chichester confirmed she hasn’t received any of her prizes but declined to comment any further.
However, persons close to her are not taking the matter lightly as they said it has been too long and unfair.
Efforts by Virgin Islands News Online to reach several persons on the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIF&FC) for a comment proved futile.
“Rosanna is at every forum that they expect her to appear and she has to do that with her own money. She is not speaking openly but it is having an effect on her and her family,” said a concerned relative.
“It is frustrating, quite frustrating more so to know that the young lady has not even received one of the simple gifts that they had on that long long list of things they promised.”
The woman said some the simplest gifts that are due to the queen are a phone of her choice from LIME, a laptop, an ipad, manicure, pedicure, massage and $300 worth of perfume.
“There are things like the scholarship and the overseas travel and magazine features and such like we can understand that those would be over time, but come on simple things like I mentioned before? They got to do better,” said the concerned relative.
Ms Chichester was also promised a wardrobe to the value of $1000. “Every place she has to go she has to buy her own wardrobe, everything, from head to toe now come on!”
Virgin Islands News Online was told that from the onset Ms Chichester and the other delegates had compromised with the committee on a number of issues. One of those issues was the lowering of the quality of the prizes. “The first thing they did was to drop the stakes, they took out the car, that was the first time that was bad,” it was noted.
“They keep saying that she will get her prizes, she will get her prizes and that’s all they not telling her anything solid and that’s bad,” said the source close to the family of Ms Chichester.
Miss Rosanna K. Chichester was crowned Miss BVI 2013/14 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on August 4, 2013. She had also secured the Miss Popularity, Best BVI Promotion, Miss Photogenic, Miss Poise, Best Swimwear, Best Culture and Historical Costume, Best Talent, Best Evening Wear and Miss Intellect prizes.
The queen was also promised a year’s subscription of Times Magazine, a trip to an international pageant, travel to Germany with the BVI Tourist Board and a scholarship.
The four contestants for this year's pageant were Raemona Maloney, Brianna Henley, Mekyla Phillips and Rosanna K. Chichester.
