ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – It has been over two months since Rosanna K. Chichester was crowned Miss BVI 2013/14; however, she is yet to receive her prizes.

Contacted by Virgin Islands News Online, Ms Chichester confirmed she hasn’t received any of her prizes but declined to comment any further.

However, persons close to her are not taking the matter lightly as they said it has been too long and unfair.

Efforts by Virgin Islands News Online to reach several persons on the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIF&FC) for a comment proved futile.

“Rosanna is at every forum that they expect her to appear and she has to do that with her own money. She is not speaking openly but it is having an effect on her and her family,” said a concerned relative.

“It is frustrating, quite frustrating more so to know that the young lady has not even received one of the simple gifts that they had on that long long list of things they promised.”

The woman said some the simplest gifts that are due to the queen are a phone of her choice from LIME, a laptop, an ipad, manicure, pedicure, massage and $300 worth of perfume.

“There are things like the scholarship and the overseas travel and magazine features and such like we can understand that those would be over time, but come on simple things like I mentioned before? They got to do better,” said the concerned relative.

Ms Chichester was also promised a wardrobe to the value of $1000. “Every place she has to go she has to buy her own wardrobe, everything, from head to toe now come on!”

Virgin Islands News Online was told that from the onset Ms Chichester and the other delegates had compromised with the committee on a number of issues. One of those issues was the lowering of the quality of the prizes. “The first thing they did was to drop the stakes, they took out the car, that was the first time that was bad,” it was noted.

“They keep saying that she will get her prizes, she will get her prizes and that’s all they not telling her anything solid and that’s bad,” said the source close to the family of Ms Chichester.

Miss Rosanna K. Chichester was crowned Miss BVI 2013/14 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on August 4, 2013. She had also secured the Miss Popularity, Best BVI Promotion, Miss Photogenic, Miss Poise, Best Swimwear, Best Culture and Historical Costume, Best Talent, Best Evening Wear and Miss Intellect prizes.

The queen was also promised a year’s subscription of Times Magazine, a trip to an international pageant, travel to Germany with the BVI Tourist Board and a scholarship.

The four contestants for this year's pageant were Raemona Maloney, Brianna Henley, Mekyla Phillips and Rosanna K. Chichester.

The funny part is we can not get a financial report from this minister! This is unfair to the young lady to have to come out of her pocket to represent this country. Bad enough you guys did not give a car this year which would have been worth over 10K

What happen to the major sponsorship Line gave this year??? I think it was like $200,000 or more.

The sad thing is you people really have the nerve to talk about 60th

Look like you shop at the cheap stores. And your comment has nothing to do with her not getting her prizes, stick to the issue Cheapo.

I foresee this pageant coming to an end in the not to distant future. This headline isn't even news anymore & I think that anyone who decides to run should not have high expectations when dealing with the festival committe & that's a dam shame. Do not enter & feel you will be treated fairly nor with respect it's not going to happen. Leave them lone man, the yr will come when no not one will look to run

Some of the things you all are commenting on do not make any sense her cheap or expensivre clothing, personal finance, etc. After /before and competing in any or most competitions always take a hole into one's expensive, even if she is given her prizes that are due to her there are going to be a lot more expensive to be incurred and as a reigning Miss BVI oh my that makes it worse. Anyway there are some entities out there that can be of an assistance to her. Sponsor her shoes, sponsor a few dresses etc for special appearance and especially when she has to put on that international or ambassadorial hat. If you can be of any assistance please do. Look at how Miss Malone and Sharie made us proud and I am certain she will do the same

This is besides the point. It is obvious that you would have to spend some of your own, because the prizes given, especially with the car now taken away, doesn't scratch the surface of what these ladies deserve. What needs to happen from next year, young ladies need to sign contracts binding the committee and the Government, by extension, and give deadlines in the contract for due prizes, because you shouldn't be advertising prizes you don't have. this is the height of nonsense to the extreme.
