ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- There will be no new faces in the Ministerial Cabinet of the re-elected National Democratic Party (NDP) government, sources close to the NDP have reliably informed Virgin Islands News Online.

The Official Swearing-In Ceremony of the Premier and Ministers of Government will be done today, June 10, 2015 at 5pm at the Central Administration Complex. His Excellency the Governor will appoint the Premier and other Ministers of Government in accordance with Section 85 (1) (2) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007.

Cabinet will include Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith, Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Ronnie W. Skelton, Minister for Communications and Works Hon Mark H. Vanterpool, Minister for Education Hon Myron V. Walwyn and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Dr The Hon Kedrick D. Pickering.

But while it is known who the Premier and Ministers will be, it is yet unclear who the Deputy Premier will be, according to our same NDP sources. Hon Pickering served as the Deputy Premier for the last three and a half years. His policies, however, have come under severe criticism from the public who are sceptical about who really some of his projects he has been pushing are really going to benefit.

It is also unclear when the Members of the Third House of Assembly (HoA) will be sworn in.

The National Democratic Party won the June 8, 2015 General Elections by a landslide, taking 11 of the 13 seats.

Yes I agree the Ministry must remain the same to complete unfinished job. But it would be proactive if each Ministry have a another person training at all times to take up the pose when needed. CONGRATULATIONS to THE NDP family. You must now work ten times harder for your people. First thing reduce food cost

Change Resources and Education. Swap them and make Skelton Deputy.

They both should stay in their ministries. I agree Skelton could be Deputy but only if Kedrick does not want the position anymore.

Unfair what? Delores will have to go and get acquainted with the ropes of a ministry which will be a GREAT setback. Besides, she needs to call in quits now and retire. Time for Young blood!!! This is not derogatory - facts are facts.
      • right (11/06/2015, 08:17) Like (2) Dislike (0) Reply
Even if she did not have to get acquainted she still would not be given a ministry.

Unfair to Deloris, when the other day Deloris couldn't even adjourn the house of assembly properly.......Deloris, Alvera and Archie have no skills to go against the other NDP pit bulls so all who expect anything out of them delusional. Might as well had vote for two more in the opposition to properly force a debate on that NHI and other horrors

I am surprised that with all the complaining before the election about the state of the territory-- development, food costs and lack of help for farmers, no regular water or electricity, no steady internet, inviting 4000 people in when our infrastructure can't handle it, pollution and over-crowding of the beaches, taxi monopolies, upgrade schools, building fishing industry, conflicts of interest, and visual direction of the BVI in general, that people didn't have the courage to look at other candidates. Even one or two more VIP or independents would have made a difference in the conversations that will now be had as a good ol' boys club. I am afraid for the BVI.

The people have spoken loud and clear, they exercised their democratic rights. At this time it was in the best interest of the BVI to keep the present government. You guys must look at the big picture and put country over self.

Ps. Stop being so salty, the votes have been counted, the race wasn't even close so that means the people knew what they wanted and you appear to be apart of the disgruntled 5% and we all know in a democratic society the majority rules. SO suck it up and get on with your life.

I was upset then I felt sorry for my people. Selling out for money. What you don't know is that you are selling out the future of your children also. You are going to make things harder for them with the NDP in once again. In the future if God raises me I will not be afraid to expose the works of darkness of any Politician. If God is for me who can be against me.

This is not the wishes of the street people, they wanted a new minister of health--preferable a Doctor. And the Present minister step down for health reason, Out of touch with the masses when 80% complain about high rates and they are ignored and take a back seat, ---the street people are calling for doctor Pickering or Doctor Oneal to be Health Minister------Reporting from the Street.

A Dr cannot be Minister of Health for the obvious 'conflict of interest' reasons. He works with the hospital staff all the time and now you appoint him Minister of Health. Then again with all the conflicting interests in the Government it may well be par for the course.

      Just saying.

Take it as it comes . You voted them in so they can do whatever they want now. Neither you nor your voice is important anymore. You got paid for your votes now go sit down. They will need you again in the next three and a half years hopefully it will be a snap election and you all wouldn't snap by them
