Min. Fraser challenges district to prove “the lies”
The incumbent representative was referring in particular to two rumors that have been circulating and which were allegedly started by the opposition.
One of the rumours is that he owns a property adjacent to the wall in Sea Cows Bay and that the Sea Cows Bay Harbour Development Project was particularly in his interest and those of a few. “And I have a challenge to each of you in this district. I know that you have heard the lies around that the property adjacent to that wall is mine. I implore you to take a trip to the Land Registry on Monday morning, take a lawyer with you and if that land is mine it is yours. I give it to you. If you find my name on any land around that wall it belongs to you. The first person to find it, it is yours.”
The Minister also threw out another challenge that if proven could bring the person with the proof a new car! This challenge he said he had put to his committee but was also going to the people of his district “just to show you how the lies are flying and they are all around me, those lies”.
According to Minister Fraser, when it was announced that there were 304 new people on the voter’s registration list for the district, the “other side” immediately ran out and said they registered half of those people. “The challenge I gave to my committee was if somebody walked up to you and told you they registered half of those people, open your car door leave the engine running, get out of it and tell them if you can prove it take the car. And let them go with the car if they prove it. Just bring the proof to me and I will send you to my wife and she will take you to whoever car dealer are in town to give you the best car that you want.”
Hon. Fraser further said the opposition has been so desperate to unseat him that they have been indulging in mind games to give the impression that they are ahead. He said he has never been in a campaign since 1999 when he was so much the focus and in the spotlight but yet he won.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Communication and Works said his aim is always to execute in the best interest of the 3rd District and the Territory as a whole. He rated the Sea Cows Bay-Hannah Sidewalk Project, as one of the best of his accomplishments and which brought him many positive responses from the district.
“From Albion Wall to Palestina it was the only section of road that did not get sidewalk during that time. I did the installation back in 2003 and it was without question the most dangerous stretch of Drake’s Highway. Ladies and gentlemen despite the setback and as reported earlier the sidewalks are open to pedestrian traffic and for the first time in modern times people can walk from Sea Cows Bay to Hannah without having to take their lives into their own hands.”
Hon. Fraser also extended special thanks to the landowners for their courtesy, understanding and willingness to be a part of the development of the District by facilitating the Sea Cows Bay-Hannah Sidewalk Project.
