My suggestion is this and i continue to say it....the laws here are too shitty....These places should be allowed to have armed security with authority to drop any threat...Govt ayuh stop playing with these man....ARMED SECURITY I REPEAT....Not security officers to open and close doors or walk around with their empty hand and maybe a batton depending on which company providing the services....If these man kno they goin to face their death possibly, they will think twice.....RVIPF cant be everywhere and even them sometimes empty handed.....Another thing in the BVI is that we putting grandmothers and grandfathers as security officers....Im not tryna take bread out of their mouth but this is a serious job and they should NOT be hired for such cause they cannot react to situations like this and it goes right back to having ARMED/FIT officers....If yall feel the local officers will act too irresponsible with guns, Seek assistance from the UK whether it be on rotation or however .... Jus their presence is needed and they use force if necessary...They cant be everywhere but the bandits hitting where they can get big draws so place the men accordingly.... If i was a robber man and i plan to Rob Rite Way and i pull up and see Military clothing with real machine, I goin my a%% back in my house...this is the kinda fear we need to put im these man...We all saw how it was after Irma...all the "bad man" them was like puppy due to them Uk boys walking around with machine.....Govt ministers ah begging ayo eh....No minister cant stop crime but put things in place to make them think twice...Put reallllll AUTOMATIC sentences and not 6 mths and BS......

So you mean the glorified doormen security that open and close the door and that riteway pays a substantial amount of money to that company did not deter the criminals?? Wow who would have thought, I get really scared myself when they shine a flashlight or tell me to pull the otherside of the door... I can’t imagine what will happen to little virgin BVI, when real hardened criminals start showing up on its shores..

What substantial amount of money Rite way pays security company?? Top priority is about the biggest private security firm and still pays $6hr.... the question one should ask is how qualified or trained these persons are as security officers what are the security firms doing where training is concerned I sure Friday night I saw police Bruce doing security duties...

@Observer, before you criticized, please get the facts. The security locked the door when he realized what was taking place. The bandits were so determined that they shot out the door with a high powered rifle. What was the security to do, get kill for a couple dollars? Come on, you need to observe a little bit more.

Find them and lash their asses. Nothing but long prison time for them. Make an example of them letting them know we will not be silent and will not tolerate this outlandish life threatening behavior. Cops have to make a speedy apprehension now.

@Wize-up, how do I know you would have come talking about the police. Well for your information, the police had just left the establishment and went to check on other businesses. They had just told the security to lock the door because of certain other activities that were taking place at the same time. The police cannot be everywhere.

Security is a serious thing . U have to be trained and knowledgeable to avoid these things . Its not a Size thing. Or how big and tall a person is. Its the art of prevention . Rite way had one of the best well trained Guy . Well trained . They could have used him
Mr Potter suggested that they use him as security because he is good . Instead they get Rid of Potter and the Guy .hmmm. Then again maybe Rite way paying for their wickedness..

Security on this island is a real issue and is becoming more and more real every day. A job like this should be a well paying job but what is happening is we have companies who do not want to pay security companies well so they can hire qualified officers and pay them a satisfactory salary to do a rewarding job. Can you really pay a highly qualified officer minimum wages to do this job. Sadly that’s what most of them are been offered because most security companies (not all) are receiving pennies to provide security. This has to be looked at also. It may be an interesting thing to find out the salary of the officers at Riteway Supermarket

This Riteway get robbed so many times in the past. One would think this new reopening of Riteway would have put measures in place to stop these bandits. They have a Security man there who is being paid to check your receipt and not bandits height of rubbish.

Check all the cameras these bandits would have come into the store at some point in time checking the positions of the cameras to set up their crimes. Trust me you will know them, their heads will be up in the air when they come into the store scanning for where the cameras are located. They not buying a thing and walk right out. Start with that.

Round the clock patrol and police visibility in certain areas will play an effective role in detouring criminal activity.

Security guards are not armed. What can they do even if well trained but unarmed? Where is the police? More recruits and crimes are not deterred or solved. More Police presence is needed to keep us, the hard working and law abiding people safe.
