Masa trial: ‘Bystander’ led Police to gun & ammo- Court told
That police witness was George James, who described the person that led him to the discovery of the items as a ‘bystander’ and repeatedly refused to release the name of the ‘bystander’ despite the efforts of Pemberton’s Attorney, Patrick Thompson.
Thompson went at length to squeeze the name out of officer James, putting it to the court that the ‘bystander’ could be a key witness in the trial and the name should be released in closed camera.
While no decision was made at the time regarding the closed camera request, Pemberton is to be brought before the court again on January 12, 2017.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to gun and ammunition charges but was remanded to prison by Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards when he first appeared before her on July 5, 2016.
The charges against the popular figure on social media locally are keeping an unlicensed Glock 40 calibre pistol and unlawful possession of explosives. Some fifteen (15) rounds of ammunition were allegedly found in the vicinity of the accused home.
The local entertainment promoter and website manager was taken into police custody after forensic tests were conducted on the weapon and finger prints lifted allegedly matched that of the accused.
