FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — Violence continues to rock the US Virgin Islands (USVI) as yet another man was shot on Thursday night, July 28, 2916 on the island of St Croix, sending him into surgery as Juan F. Luis Hospital remained on lock-down throughout the night.

The Consortium was tipped by multiple sources and contacted [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte for more information.

According to Mr Dratte, the incident, which occurred near the Cockpit (a place where chickens fight) in Estate Glynn just after 8:00 P.M., involved a man who was sitting in his truck when someone, riding on a motorcycle, rode up near the victim and shot him in the upper chest, and sped away towards Mon Bijou.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and went into surgery.

This shooting follows an incident at the John F. Kennedy Housing Community a day earlier, that left Dwayne “DMX” Woodrup — who was shot multiple times in September 2015 while driving a red Honda Civic on Centerline Road (Queen Mary Highway) near the Central High School, during abarrage of shooting incidents that month and was airlifted out of the territory for emergency care — critically wounded but still alive.

Mr Dratte said the VIPD is continuing its investigations into both matters, and the force is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest assailants to contact the Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579 and 5557. Residents can also contact 911, Crime Stoppers VI, the chief’s office at 340-715-5548 or the commissioner’s office at 340-715-5506.

just for you...I don't usually entertain or acknowledge ignorance but I will...JUST FOR YOU. It is for security purposes. IF you followed the story you would have seen the part that said "This shooting follows an incident at the John F. Kennedy Housing Community a day earlier..." Usually when a shooting occurs where the victim did not die, and there is reasonable suspicion or information that leads the authorities to believe that there may be retaliations or the perpetrators of the shooting may come to "finish the job" they put the hospital on lock down, increase security and police presence. This is called taking a PROACTIVE approach instead of REACTING after the fact. The security officers at the hospitals are not armed nor do they have the ability/authority to arrest anyone. They would not be able to stop anyone from entering the hospital, especially if they were to pretend they were going to visit someone else who was a patient there or working there. Think about this...If they were to gain access to the victim and ended up shooting him and a nurse or someone was to walk into the room at the same time etc... what do you think they would do? Surrender? What do YOU think they would do to evade capture and ensure there were no witnesses?...Hmmmm..Just for you
