EAST END/LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI – With much anticipation last night August 5, 2014 the eager crowd had begun to become anxious as the long awaited performance of Jamaican dancehall sensation Mavado the ‘Gully God’ was yet to become a reality.

The uneasiness arose as they waited for more than half of an hour before he finally arrived. DJ Bertram and MC Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart did their best to hold the crowd together teasing them with some of the hottest dance hall music. They both breathed a sigh of relief when Mavado turned up and was in full gear to perform.

Once the show got started there was no turning back as the international dancehall artiste blazed the stage with some of his old and most recent music.

Following the performance which was brought to an abrupt end by a Police Officer Mavado expressed his pleasure of finally having the opportunity to entertain the Virgin Islands people. As it relates to what’s next for him he said, “The Sky is the limit, look to the sky for me.”

He explained that one of his challenges in the past had to do with his band but said that he has since been able to sort that out and has a new band which made their debut at the Ifield ‘Spike’ Lettsome Memorial Festival.

Prior to Mavado’s stage appearance the crowd was treated to live and recorded entertainment by artistes both local and international. Those included Nightingale, Might Ley Ley, The Baron who has been singing since 1971 out of Trinidad and Trinidad and Tobago, Winston Soso and Stylee Band.

The main challenge that somewhat dampened the spirit of some of the singers were technical difficulties experienced mainly by Xtreme band but once they had their act together it was all smooth sailing.

Are these adults serious? getting little children (images -15,22 and 49) at an adult event and even that late in the night. Any wonder why our children are so strayed when they are older?

Parents you need to pull up your socks - these kids need to be in their bed not between adult events and exposes to such music and women who are poorly dressed.

D man is a dance hall artist. He got paid to do what he does best , which is to please d ppl. If u never wanted to hear his type of songs u shud never have paid ur how much money to go . Who shud b responsible for careless parents who were so adamant that they had to go so much that they put their kid's innocence at risk? Certain n9w d artist nd those who went to hear just what e gave them. I wanted to go myself but never had anyone to keep my child so I dis what any well thinking parent would do which is to stay Home with .a chile. Too bad for those who took their kids to an adult show nd expected the show not to go on because kids were present. Chuuupes.
