ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Entertainment and normal action resumed as the Emancipation Festival continued last night, August 2, 2012, at the Claudette “Boopie” Smith Festiville. After suffering a few minor hiccups at the previous evening’s show, it was busi

Bands played through a medley of tunes as they had the crowd moving in all directions to the melodious sounds of saxophones, trumpets, and keyboards on stage last night. The crowd, containing an even mixture of young and old, swayed from side to side dancing themselves in rapture well into the early morning hours to the offerings of various acts such as Caribbean Ecstasy and the Jam Band.

Bands went through their catalogues in smooth succession as they played and sang to an approving audience who clung to their notes, singing along in unison and screaming as they were urged on by the artistes on stage.

Booths and stalls were well patronised as members of the audience helped themselves to the various beverages and dishes on sale during the night.

Proceedings were led by a local DJ who kept the sizeable crowd entertained until the bands were ready to take to the stage.

Meanwhile, the night proved to be an incident free one, as a moderate Police presence was seen in place throughout the entirety of the show, maintaining order as patrons were allowed to enjoy themselves in a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Things will heat up again for tonight’s, August 3, 2012, session as the International Reggae show is slated to be held in a continuation of Festival activities. Musical icons expected to grace the stage include the evergreen Barrington Levy and Junior Reid. Young, exciting crooner, Christopher Martin also joins in the act with Soca artiste Destra also putting in an appearance.
