Leroy Jones wins 2019 Kenroy C. Millington Memorial Pool Tournament
The championship trophy was lifted this year by barber Leroy Jones of Tortola, who overcame Jason Callwood, also of Tortola, in the final. Jones took care of Dornel Barry in the preliminary rounds and overcame Maliyaa Stevens in the knock out round before defeating Sivevine Joseph aka "Bushman" in the semi-finals.

Jones pocketed $1,000.00, which was sponsored and presented by Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, and Ninth District Representative Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley, and a trophy sponsored by Bobby's Marketplace and presented by Mrs Janet Millington, Widow of The Late Kenroy C. Millington, LEM.
Callwood received $500, which was sponsored and presented by Territorial At Large Representative Honourable Shereen D. Flax-Charles.
Joseph, who claimed the third place spot, was awarded $250 sponsored by Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) and presented by Honourable Flax-Charles.
The Most Skillful Shot Award went to Kelaine Smith, who received a Full Body Massage sponsored by Royal Touch Day Spa.
Other giveaways at the 2nd Annual Kenroy C. Millington Memorial Pool Tournament were 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, Smart Phones, Microwave, Several Round-Trip Ferry Tickets between Virgin Gorda-Tortola-St. Thomas, Full Body Massages, Pedicure, Manicure, Facial, Gift Certificates, and Memorial Buttons.
Meanwhile, in exhibition games, Victor Creque outshot Reoven Sprauve aka “Zola” in a veteran matchup and
Janelle Smith got the best of Shaila Stevens in a female clash.
Another successful tournament
In a statement, the family of the late Millington said the memorial tournament was successful for a second year. “We would like to first recognise God, who is always front and a center from planning to execution on game day.”
The statement added that the family intends to keep Millington’s legacy alive with hosting annual and semi-annual tournaments. “We will begin plans to include Memorial Darts and Domino Tournaments, in addition to Pool, as Ken was very active in all three tournaments during his entrepreneurship as owner of The Crabhole Bar and Restaurant.
“Wholehearted thanks to everyone who attended and supported this great cause, where a portion of proceeds from these tournaments is donated to St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Ken’s honour. Thanks to all pool players for participating and showcasing their skills, we are always grateful to have players from Tortola join the fun. It was also a delight having Honourable Vincent Wheatley and Honourable Shereen Flax-Charles a part of the event.”
