Laughs! Did Minister for Communications ‘fly away with BVI Airways?’- Fahie

Minister for Communications and Works Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4), left, has been missing from the House of Assembly today, December 14, 2017, prompting Opposition Leader Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) to ask, jokingly, whether he had flown away with BVI Airways. Photo: VINO/File

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- In a light moment this morning December 14, 2017 at the Twelfth Sitting of the Second Session of the Third House of Assembly (HoA), Leader of the Opposition Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) had both the public and some elected members laughing over his comments.

It was at the time his turn to pose questions to the Minister for Communications and Works Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4), who was missing from the Chambers at the time.

The HoA is being held at the Arbitration Center in the Ritter Building on Wickham's Cay II.

The Speaker of Parliament, Hon Ingrid A. Moses, advised the Opposition Leader to move on as, the Minister was not present, to which Hon Fahie, asked: if “he had fly away with BVI Airways?”

Where is the Minister for Communications & Works?

Many persons listening erupted in laughter. The Speaker then cautioned the First District Representative and he responded and further suggested, "maybe he gone to fuel up the plane.”

The Speaker then recessed the HoA, but our roving camera will have to check to see,  if indeed Hon Vanperpool is on a BVI Airways flight or is holding the fuel pump, after we determine the flight route.  But then again, the Communications and Works Minister was a former Banker so maybe he is assisting in counting the $7.2M doled out by taxpayers.

One thing we do know is that the route is not between Miami International Airport and Terrence B. Lettsome International, Beef Island, even $7.2M later.

Minister Vanterpool has since been sighted in and out the HoA.

just a question(don't the people of this territory deserves an Airline) we once had Air BVI: if something went wrong during the transaction for BVI Air Airways; it simply send those involved to jail: there is plenty talk about the air line, yet no one goes to jail, so why all the talk(just a question) if some of us falls behind with submitting out taxes, them want to take us before the court; here we are now; 10 tax million of your tax dollars gone: moreover no planes and not one person brought up on criminal charges( what a world) if don't pay tax off to jail but 10 million issued in exchange for plains but where are these(money gone; planes gone) what a thing!!!! Do you remember "fantasy island" the plane plane

Lol Hon Fahie! And VINO! I love your thinking. Waiting for the next cartoon...lol! As for that HOA lady, I hope she has humbled her bias and out of order self since HER HOUSE was taken from her. Andrew standing alone but he got the greatest power on his side and when God is for you, no one can be against you. Andrew didn't even need to lift a finger! All he had to do was stand.

Anyways I digress, I want to know if Mark reports to himself because there should be no reason why both the Premier and his deputy shouldn't have enough combined knowledge to answer the opposition leader's questions that are being put to Mark. This is where accountability comes in! When yuh don't show up, your superiors must be obliged to answer for you. The superiors would then place a burden on you to show up in order to save them further (and I stress 'further') public embarrassment.
