ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Sea Cows Bay resident, Kashma Georges, 28, told the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, September 27, 2013 that he was upset when he launched into an expletive laden tirade with a Police Officer after being involved in a vehicular accident late last year.

According to Crown Counsel Annjel Flax-Solomon, the defendant, a heavy equipment operator, was involved in an accident on December 26, 2012 at Coxheath along the Sir Francis Drake Highway when he allegedly made use of indecent and insulting language towards an officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

At first, the defendant pleaded guilty to the use of indecent language and not guilty to insulting language but later changed his plea to guilty on both counts.

Two officers were reportedly called to the scene of the accident at about 7:05PM and a female officer introduced herself to the defendant when he allegedly said, “Is this stupid bitch they had to send?”

Georges was then informed that it was an offence to use insulting language to an officer.

When asked what his name was, he allegedly responded, “My name is Kashma [expletive] Georges. I hit the [expletive] vehicle and I will fix the [expletive] vehicle. I have nothing more to say to ayo mother [expletive].”

The defendant then allegedly got into his vehicle and drove off.

Georges told the court that he was heading from horse races on the said day after being informed that his daughter was ill and didn’t mean to say anything that he said to the officers. He added that he was frustrated because he felt the officers were acting as if he had committed a big crime.

“I was heated at the time. I was upset at the time and she had wanted me to go down to the police station,” he said to the court before stating that he subsequently apologised to the officer.

It was revealed in court that the other person’s vehicle has since been repaired and the victim is not pressing charges.

George's matter was stood down pending a decision by Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards.

I have been in an accident and never though about cursing the officer who came to the scene. Also, this is why we pay big money for insurance, let them handle it. I will not go to jail for something that simple. Everyone who gets into a traffic ordeal is upset..still no excuse for cursing the Law.
