Kai de Castro 'was not wearing' bulletproof vest- RVIPF

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Following the fatal shooting of local businessman Kai de Castro in Brewers Bay on July 28, 2026, reports began to circulate that the slain man was wearing a bulletproof vest.

The Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has; however, stated that such was not the case.

"The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force can confirm that our investigations have established that the victim was not wearing a bullet-resistant vest at the time of the incident," the RVIPF stated on July 30, 2026.

Police are continuing their investigations into the murder, the second in the Virgin Islands this year.

    Some of you was spreading lies about the man was wearing bullet proof vest, no such thing, same thing as some of you was posting the man lay out on the ground dead on Facebook. You proud of your selves now? You got your climax? You people here is a bunch of evil people.       The picture showed what? Just last week, I was wearing a loose tube top maxi dress, someone had the nerve ask my sister if I was pregnant because I look like I was pregnant, no such thing.you understand what I am trying to say? Your eyes can fool you. And if the guy was wearing a bullet prof best, are you and whoever else say he was are you guys getting some kind of prize. Another thing that is wrong with this place, when there is a crime scene, why is people other than the investigating team allowed to be near the crime scene

    Hope all whoever did feel proud of yourselves justifying based on speculation of what a person deserve or not deserve. Who knows what happened.

    Security is bad criminals have the advantage. On a typical day police should be in Brewers bay.

    What I was taught about bullet proof vests a long time ago in Texas was that a bulletproof vest does not save you all the time. They are only bullet-resistant and do not, do not cover every part of the body, and have major limits. Some vests fail sometimes. A soft vest stops handguns, but high-speed rifles or armor-piercing bullets can and will go through them unless heavy hard plates are added. Even if a bullet does not pierce the vest, the heavy impact can still break ribs, damage internal organs or cause severe bruising. A vest only protects the core chest and back leaving the head, limbs and neck exposed. Rest in Peace deCastro
