Johnson siblings Julien & Patlian Out! From Government posts
Last month, Director of BVI Finance Julien N. Johnson called it quits when he resigned his post from Government. Mr Johnson, who was seconded from the Financial Investigative Agency (FIA) for a year to head up the BVI Finance Centre, is no longer in the post, effective April 30, 2016.
The Government agency, BVI Finance, which serves as the marketing arm of the Virgin Islands Financial Services Industry is now headless as Mr Johnson is out and has resigned from his substantive post at the FIA.
There are conflicting reports as to why he called it quits, and if his secondment tenure would have been extended, however, it is believed he is now out on his own as a businessman.
Patlian Johnson out!
Meanwhile, his sister Patlian Johnson who held the post of Deputy Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, being responsible for Economic Development, has also left her government post. She resigned around March of this year.
Ms Johnson last appeared before the House of Assembly’s Standing Finance Committee (SFC) in February of this year with the Ministry of Finance.
It remains unclear what led to her resignation, however, a source in the Ministry of Finance told our newsroom that Ms Johnson, who is an economist, is now in the private sector.
It is our newsroom’s understanding that both posts- Director of BVI Finance and Deputy Financial Secretary- remain vacant.
A political civil service; no help from Governor or DG
Many residents and current and former civil servants from all levels have claimed that the service has now become a political body, as one can only obtain employment or promotion if they support the National Democratic Party Administration. They alleged that the same thing is true to receive a government scholarship through the Ministry of Education, which they claim is dictated by the controversial Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn.
Morale in the civil service is low, as it is reported that most locals are marginalised, grievances are swept under the rug, reports of sexual harassment of both genders are rife, and there is no one to go to for justice.
Many civil servants have taken to the courts to seek redress for wrongs, as they stated neither can they rely on the Deputy Governor V. Inez Archibald, who they alleged is too political and cannot be fair, nor Governor John S. Duncan OBE, who said he has seen no corruption, conflict of Interest or victimisation in the civil service.

more people will 'abandon ship'. there's a limit how much ANYONE should put up with invasion of privacy or
ridiculous witch hunts started by outsiders. meanwhile complaints filed at Financial Services are sitting dormant
as a nazi type movement attacks the BVI and other territories demanding to know everyone's underwear size.
insane.
