Job fair to fill vacant positions at Oil Nut Bay

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda - Job seekers are being urged to take advantage of a job fair to be hosted by the Government of the Virgin Islands (VI) through the Labour Department and the management of Oil Nut Bay.

This, according to a Government information Service (GIS) press release, dated November 14, 2018, which noted that the fair will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Catholic Community Centre in the Valley, Virgin Gorda from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and persons will be interviewed for the available positions of Food and Beverage, Maintenance, Marine, Housekeeping, Guest Services and Sales.

Labour Commissioner, Ms Janice I. F. Rymer said, officers from the Labour Department will be present to offer persons assistance and is encouraging interested persons to attend the fair and take advantage of the employment opportunities that will be made available.

Ms Rymer said, “the Labour Department remains committed to ensuring that our workforce is commensurate with the demand, and I am encouraged by the decision of the management of Oil Nut Bay to host this job fair, as it signals that the BVI is on its way to returning to normalcy…The data that is collected from the persons who register will also allow us to put persons back in employment.”

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Department of Labour will continue to do their part to rebuild the Territory smarter, greener and better.

    Great initiative, my concern is I see no management positions as lists of vacancies. Are we only good enough to fill entry level jobs?
