NASSAU, Bahamas — A jet ski operator arrested on suspicion of the sexual assault of an American tourist last weekend was formally charged with rape May 10. Prosecutors alleged that D’Roy Mackey, 34, of Windsor Place, raped the 30-year-old visitor at Cabbage Beach May 4, 2019.

Mackey was not required to enter a plea to the rape charge when he made his initial court appearance before Magistrate Samuel McKinney. He will plead to the charge once the matter is transferred to the Supreme Court for tr

This is expected to happen June 13, when Mackey is served with a voluntary bill of indictment.

Magistrate McKinney remanded Mackey into custody as he lacks jurisdiction to consider bail for the offence. However, Mackey can seek bail in the Supreme Court.
