Jehovah's Witnesses move online for ‘Always Rejoice’ 2020 convention

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As COVID-19 continues to disrupt the way people meet, Jehovah's Witnesses in the Virgin Islands (VI) and around the world, just like other denominations, have resorted to digital meetings to keep connected with the people in their faith.

As part of those digital meetings, millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses and their invited guests in some 240 locations across the globe will this weekend attend the ‘Always Rejoice’ 2020 global convention; a digital event ongoing in this weekend of July 11-12 with the final weekend of the virtual event scheduled for August 29-30.

With a Friday, Saturday and Sunday session happening every weekend, local spokesperson for the initiative, Mr Shawn N. Saunders told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) that the convention is opened for anyone to watch live or be downloaded via the jw.org portal, where viewing for each day’s sessions can be done.

He said this week; however, the local faction will be focusing on the Friday morning session which will look at how husbands, wives, parents, and children can find and promote joy in the family, including how to discover the natural world and the ability to observe it and reveal God’s desire for happiness.

Digital group meetup

According to Mr Saunders, after the session, the plan is that local Jehovah's Witnesses will then congregate in a digital group meetup to be held later today, Sunday, July 12, 2020, for a discussion and next weekend, the focus will be on the Friday afternoon session.

Overall, the convention will be released in six instalments, each corresponding to a morning or afternoon session of what would have been three successive convention days every weekend up until August end.

According to Mr Saunders, while the viewing party is opened to anyone, persons looking to enter the group discussions with other Jehovah's Witnesses can contact him on 284-346-0641 or email SNSAUNDERS@jw.org.

      Did you get that from the article? The little i know about this group is they do not solicit money. Their volunteers give base on what they have. In addition, you don't have to be religious but gosh let those who want to be , be. of Ham ....... who cares, if you have faith in something who cares about your blood line. Stupz. Leave the people them.

    Only those doing the will of God will enter into his kingdom.

    One can try to be associated with any organization and yet does not do the will of God. God sees deep within the heart and all that is done in the dark. There are a lot of hypocrites and murderers* about.

    Murderers: those stopping people from coming to God because of the hypocrisy that is seen. Yes, people are seeing that some of those proclaiming to be lovers of God are really wicked and are disobedient to the word.

    Jehovah Witnesses are the real deal. One thing there can do is explain the bible real good. Waite how can I sign up to be a Jehovah Witnesses it time now, we living in a stressful and wicked world. Can't do it on my own no more. God soon coming believe me.

      Contact one of the Witnesses if you are interested in studying what the Bible teaches. See Mr. Saunders number listed above which I repeat +284 346 0641. He will put you in contact with the right person.

      No pressure on you to take the next step following a study of the Bible.

    This is not the time to play. If they got church online to help me and my family it might be interesting. Too much people just home not going church and fighting each other. I will check it out.

    I think it’s a nice thing to have a jw Convention streaming on your own tv. I have been invested to some different times in school or other places it was held. And I learned a lot .the videos was real. I will look at when the time comes.
