Ivan Hill to stand trial for driving over cop's foot
According to the allegations against Hill, he did not want to be charged for committing a traffic offence and was in the proccess of attempting to make good his escape when he drove his vehicle over the foot of the cop.
When he appeared before Senior Magistrate Richards, he pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The court heard that around 3:40 pm on July 31, 2013 Police Officers were on patrol along Flemming Street, in Road Town when they saw an unoccupied vehicle double-parked along a section of the roadway and was obstructing the free flow of traffic.
Hill was not in the vehicle at the time but as the Police Officer was ticketing the vehicle Hill turned up and got into the vehicle and attempted to drive away but was stopped from do so as he was being cautioned that he was being ticketed for illegally parking in the area.
He reportedly told the cops he was visiting from St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands and was only on the island for the Festival. He was not prepared to be ticketed and in an alleged quest to evade the Police Officer he drove off but in so doing one of the rear wheels ran over the foot of the Police and he soon fled the scene in a speed. This resulted in the Police giving chase and managing to apprehend him in the area of Scatliffe Alley, Road Town. He was then charged accordingly.
Hill is set to be back in court on February 17, 2015 when the trial is likely to get started.
