Injured truck driver transferred to Florida hospital

- Kavin Robin said to have sustained multiple injuries including head; GoFundMe set up

Reports are that when the truck fell some 40 feet and landed on a house at Diamond Estate, one of Kavin Robin’s hands was pinned and seriously damaged. DIAMOND ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Kavin Robin, 23, who was injured when the flatbed truck he was driving fell off the side of a road at Diamond Estate on February 27, 2021, has been transferred to a hospital in Florida, USA.

According to a close relative, the man was taken by medivac from the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital last night, March 3, 2021, and arrived in Florida earlier this morning, March 4, 2021, where he is to start extensive evaluation for corrective surgeries and care.

Severe injuries

Reports are that when the truck fell some 40 feet and landed on a house, one of Kavin’s hands was pinned and seriously damaged.

He also reportedly suffered multiple injuries to the upper body including the head, which requires urgent medical assessment.

According to the relative, the injured driver is alert and speaking at the moment.

Kavin’s family has since set up a GoFundMe account to assist with his medical expenses.

    If he was working for someone then its his employers responsibility to cover all medical costs, its in the labour code.
    Was he working for himself or soeone else?
    This is why the NHI is not worth the money taken from our pay checks.

    astonishingly though, the next day right by Todman peak so yards from this accident, we see another truck at up a slope and tilted having a fork lift putting a load of breeze blocks on it. We need to do a lot better with training those who operate taxi, trucks and other large vehicles, enforce proper maintenance and not to mention having basic construction standards that are actually used/enforced.
