ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Earlier this year Virgin Islands News Online featured as a young professional, Kadisha K. Willock, a budding fashion designer and graphic artist.

We are since pleased to report that Kadisha has since been making waves in the local fashion industry with her clothing line called Independence 21, which was launched in December 2015.

“It is getting better as more people are getting to know about it, either through word of mouth or Facebook and more people are interested...People are always looking for a new outfit, or if they want something to match their shoes, for example, and they can’t order it or can’t get it here on time I can do something about it,” kadisha told this news site.

Right now Kadisha has been focusing on T-shirts and other tops but is also seeking to include hats and swimsuits into the clothing line.

Added to that, Kadisha will soon be launching her 'Summer Collection' and will feature prominently in various fashion events during the summer.

About Independence 21

According to Kadisha, Independence 21 is not just “another t-shirt line” as this is something that she has worked on day in and day out for about a year. “My designs were not created just to ‘look good’ but they were also created to tell a story.”

The name Independence 21 stems from her deciding to become independent at the age of 21 and deciding to start building her own brand.

“In my designs you see a broken chain, a pyramid, wings and stars but why? The broken chain symbolises me breaking away from depending on my parents and being out on my own. The wings are for me, of course spreading my wings and venturing out on a scary yet rewarding journey. The pyramid signifies building my own empire and the stars are for me finally having the courage to shoot for the stars and live out my dreams…This is Independence 21 by Design 284 Creative Media.”

Meanwhile, persons can make their orders from Kadisha through Facebook (Independence 21) or Instagram as she does not have a store as yet. “They can just choose what designs they want and I can put it on their clothing.”
