ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Seven Seas Water, a division of AquaVenture Holdings, has confirmed that Mr. Elton Georges CMG, OBE has accepted appointment in a consulting capacity as Managing Director of its local company – Aqua Venture Water Corporation (BVI) effective Monday September 21, 2015.

Virgin Islands News Online first and accurately reported on Mr Georges' appointment on October 15, 2015.

“We are very pleased to have Mr Georges now part of our Seven Seas Water team working to assist us in effectively partnering with the people of the British Virgin Islands to meet the water needs of the island,” said a press release from Seven Seas Water yesterday October 15, 2015.

The release was publish in response to questions put to the company by Virgin Islands News Online. Since the news hit the public, many commented and shared the opinion that retirees need to step aside and allow others to fill certain key managerial positions. When this was put to Mr Georges he responded, “I don’t have any thoughts on that. I didn’t seek this position or anything I was called and asked if I would assist this company in this way (as a consultant Managing director) as they have similar people helping them in other Caribbean countries.”

He said that it was some time ago he was approached and talks were ongoing before he finally agreed to accept the job.

He told this news site that at the time of retiring from the head position at the Complaints Commission he hadn’t any plans of taking on any particular job at the time. “But as I said, this is something that came up and I looked at it and I thought it is something I can handle. This is not a 9-5 job or anything of the kind. It is something you can work at your own pace, to a great extent you are self-directed,” Mr Georges explained.

Mr Georges said that while he does not have any special background as a consultant at any water company, his general background in management will play a key part in getting the job done as is required by Seven Seas Water.

“An important part of what they want done is to keep the company abreast of the needs of the people,” said Mr Georges.

Seven Seas said that Mr Georges joins the other local Managing Directors in the Caribbean (St Maarten, Curacao, and Trinidad) as a key person to assure that the needs of the local community are well understood.

“An important element of our operating philosophy is to participate in local community charities as part of our Corporate Support Programmes supporting organisations that benefit children and education in particular. We look forward to working with Mr Georges as we strive to be good corporate citizens of the BVI,” they said.

Seven Seas Water provides total water management solutions for municipal and industrial clients. The Company specialises in the supply of potable, ultra‐pure and reuse water. Solutions include the design, financing, construction and operation of dedicated water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Seven Seas Water maintains ownership of the facilities while long‐term water sale contracts and/or public‐private partnerships guarantee the quantity and quality of water required to meet the client’s needs. Seven Seas Water, based in Tampa, Florida, operates facilities in seven countries across the Caribbean.

Why? What's wrong with him accepting the offer? Y'all just too damn contrary 'bout everything! It's a private company that hired who they perceived to be the best man for the job and without restraints of Government hiring practices - age, votes and personal agendas! Just be glad one of our own and a man of integrity, was selected to oversee this highly controversial operation. He will do right by the consumers, the Government and his employer.

I am sure you believe he should have recommended a young person but truth is how many of those young persons would have connections and the influence needed to get the job done

These big companies are run by old experienced heads...it's only here we keep talking about young people. Yes I am all for young people but many of them don't want to submit themselves to learning under the leadership of persons like Mr. Georges and waitin their turn WHILE building the right connections. Instead, they only complaining about the old people holding up the position. It's much more than education .

Mr. Georges no need to explain yourself to these out of place people. They need to have several seats!!!!

with all the hell bi-water got i would have hired Mr. Georges also, 1. hire someone the BVI can trust, someone of sound mind and an excellent track record.
some of you are talk from a place of jealousy and plain old bad mind. just don't like to see another person do well. you need to read the making of a slave and see how physically free you are but your minds are still enslaved.

I would never forget, why would I? unlike you I work hard for what I get, I don't sit and expect a handout. I don't get angry or jealous when I see someone else progress young or old male or female, local or expat. I give of my time and money i help contribute to the development of the BVI not that it would ever matter to someone like yourself who hate you own so I am sure you hate me also.
Let the man continue to make his contribution and be happy that you to will benefit.
