LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI - National Democratic Party’s (NDP 1) Candidate for the seventh electoral district, Hipolito D. Penn aspires to become the next Terrance B. Lettsome to the people of his district, should he be elected to the Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA).

Political pundits say Mr Penn is currently the only one so far, on the NDP 1 campaign trail to give a clear roadmap of his plans especially in the area of developing the fishing industry.

Relatable

Mr Penn, seen as the most relatable grassroots person on the campaign trail with a clean tongue compared to that of Party Chairman, Hon Myron V. Walwyn (AL), was officially launched in Long Look on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, a community where the support was overwhelming.

He told those gathered that the late Hon Lettsome better known as ‘TB’ was just an ordinary man with exceptional love for his people and country.

“His name remains on the minds of the people of the 7th district for his courageous leadership, love, compassion, empathy and truth which is lacking in this district today. It is for this very reason I offer myself as a candidate for the 7th district. It is often said if you don’t love people you can’t lead or represent people,” he told those gathered.

Degree in love

Making his intentions of greatness for his people known, he said, “Hon TB Lettsome has a Master’s Degree in Love for his people. I Hipolito Diego Penn have a Bachelor’s Degree in Love for you my people of the 7th district, but with your vote to send me to the next House of Assembly as your representative, I will attain my Master’s Degree in the four years I am allotted.”

Giving a road map of his plans that will see the district develop with spin-off effects for the entire territory, he tapped in on the fishing industry which according to him, has been neglected.

He said that neglect has caused hardship on the local fishermen and people looking for a source of protein, something he intends to fix once elected to office.

The BVI with its abundance of fishery resources has tremendous potential for the development of a local sports fishing industry he said. “The economic impact on the economy for the BVI from [the] development of a recreational fishing industry will total $4 million for eight months,” he said.

Was listening . He came prepared . He spoke well. With passion . He high lighted the failures . Why the failures. How they could have been presented and offered his solution ...I was very much impressed . He seems like a common sense caring person .. its time for us to give those kind of people a chance . The Scholars have been failing us over and over ...

The con talk won't work, a degree in Love isn't real, he doesn't have any connection to TB, if there are no mangroves and pond like the ndp already tried to destroy there will be no fish. There's already less fish so we need an environmental approach to fix that. He isn't the worst though just on the wrong team. And it's time for kedrick to go too, instead of trying to hold on and wait for a premiership offer to make a coalition gov, the chance of that happening is <5%. These clowns couldn't even get along in the 2 parties they had so we know if we put 4 parties in with same fraser fahie kedrick Walwyn skelton we'll get worse than we just had & what we had was terrible. Sowande is the best man & is with a full team. Time for the district to go Green.

You could have a degree in "Love" and treat your family with such disrespect. How can you love strangers so and hate your own - Go long my grandmother would say.
