“I cannot speak for Dr Smith’s Gov’t” - Walwyn on increment payments
Hon Walwyn’s defence came at the Greenland community last night, February 19, 2019, at a rally in support of Hon Marlon A. Penn’s re-election as the Eight District Representative.
Money outstanding since 2016
While increments for civil servants were outstanding since 2016, Mr Walwyn said, “We wanted to pay it but we had 2017 we know what happened in 2017, and we had 2018 where we had a successful year. Isn’t it the proper thing to pay the civil servants the increments if you make money?” he questioned.
According to Hon Walwyn, he cannot respond to the call for the increments to be paid now because “I cannot speak for Dr Smith’s Government. I can speak for the administration of Myron Walwyn,” he said in justifying the date.
“We have had an exceptional year in 2018 thanks to the work of Honourable Premier who is here with us tonight. We had a year where the revenue was $372ML, $60ML over what we budgeted,” he revealed.
In reiterating his promise, he said, “We will pay those increments by March 15, I can say that… What is $9M out of the $60M that you had as an overage to pay the civil servants what you owe them?” he again questioned, even as the payment promise comes with a condition and three years late.
Attack on Hon Skelton
Further, while promising to run a clean campaign, Mr Walwyn ventured into name-calling which came in the form of a personal attack on Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM-NDP2) Chairman, Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL), by calling him “Bob the Builder” and saying his brain is “too big for his body”.
In hitting back at critics over his promise to pay the outstanding increments after elections he said, “But you see they think their brain big, I just heard Bob the Builder down there talking and Bob the Builder went out on a promise that he is going to pay civil servants an extra month pay every year.”
He continued, “But you see Bob the builder's brain was always too big for his body, that’s why Bob the builder couldn’t work under anybody unless he was the leader.”

Under his Administration! Shit, he claiming victory...Jah help Us All!
the slander and the name calling from people who wants to take the territory forward is unbelievable; you won’t see this level of conduct in a kindergarten classroom: some pettyness
The Blue Team needs to slide past the two of them and win this election. The majority of the people are watching and listening.
May the Hon Ronnie get this country back in track.
