“I am grateful” – Hon Melvin M. Turnbull on D2 re-election

-Says PVIM ideas can still work to move the Territory forward

FISH BAY, Tortola, VI – Lone winner in the Ronnie W. Skelton led Progressives Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM-NDP 2) camp, Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) aka ‘Mitch’ says he is grateful for the opportunity to be re-elected to serve the second district for another term and expressed gratitude to his party members for the support during the heated elections season.

Mr Turnbull made those sentiments, during a press conference at the PVIM’s headquarters in Fish Bay, Tortola on Tuesday, February 27, 2019, where he personally thanked party Chairman Mr Skelton for his support.

Gratitude

“I want to salute and applaud each and every one of you… Hon Ronnie Skelton, my friends my brother, my adopter father I want to thank you, sir, for giving it one more push to bring about a new direction for this country… I want to thank you for leading this charge,” he told Mr Skelton.  

“To the people of the Virgin Islands, to the second district committee, to the 550 persons that voted for myself, Team Melvin ‘Mitch’ Turnbull to be re-elected to the House of Assembly for a second term… I am grateful for your challenge,” he said.  

He said he plans to do better to not only move the second district forward but to represent the people of the Virgin Islands (VI).

Practical Ideas

According to 'Mitch', he is especially proud of the ideas that the PVIM created and pushed forward, “Even if it’s not implemented now, they are ideas that are practical, they are ideas that are workable for the territory of the Virgin Islands,” he said.  

Is extending congratulations to the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Mr Turnbull said, “To the chairman and now the Leader of the of the Virgin Islands Party, Hon Andrew A. Fahie and his entire Virgin Islands Party team that were elected I want to say congratulations to each and every one of them on their success at the polls.”

      Perhaps now that the elections are over, people can put aside their pre-election differences, and salute both the new government, and the new opposition. I believe that Mitch is an honorable politician, otherwise I would not have voted for him. I really hope that there will be harmony in the HOA and that there will also be accountability.

    You have only thanked the 550 person's that voted for your, now this is where discourse is ahead. All Politicians need to understand that even for those who did not vote for you it is their RIGHT, their CIVIC DUTY. They all need to stop showing favoritism to those who vote for them and just do for all of the virgin islanders, why only certain person's were invited to your victory party.

    Yes you were on their ticket but PVIM did nothing for you. The people of the second Know what you did in their darkest hour and THEY will not be ungrateful to throw away a great soldier. Up top.
