SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI – Several hundred persons lined the streets of Spanish Town to witness the annual Easter Parade in Virgin Gorda under brilliant sunshine yesterday April 1, 2013.

The parade, which featured less than ten troupes, got under way just before 2 P.M. yesterday in the vicinity of Dixies Parking Lot before coming to a stop at the Darwin George Festival Ground.

The troupes took to the streets in brilliantly coloured costumes filled with life as they danced energetically to the blaring music provided by DJs along the route.

Participants from Tortola, Virgin Gorda and St Thomas were among the troupes that featured in the parade which also included schools and several business places. Some of the troupes on show were Althea Scatliffe Primary, St Thomas Majorettes, Sebastien Majorettes and Rosewood Little Dix Bay.

Ministers of Government also came along to witness the parade including Premier Dr the Hon. D. Orlando Smith, Hon. Ronnie W. Skelton, Hon. Mark H. Vanterpool, Hon. Myron V. Walwyn and Dr the Hon. Kedrick D. Pickering.

As is customary, several pageant queens were also among those that headed the participants in this year’s parade, including the recently crowned Ms Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Sylvanna Charles, Ms Gorgeous Vonda Johnson as well as Ms BVI Sharie B. de Castro.
