Hon Turnbull appointed Minister for a day

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Second District Representative, Honourable, Melvin M. Turnbull, has been appointed Minister for Health and Social Development in the Virgin Islands (VI) government, for a day, on Thursday, August 23, 2018.

The appointment comes after an official notice was handed to acting Governor, David D. Archer, by Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL), today, August 22, 2018.

According to the missive issued by Dr Smith, to the acting Governor, the appointment obtains, since substantive Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL), will be away from the Territory at the time.

According to the official notice dispatched to the acting Governor, “…two ministers will be away from the Territory,” on August 23, 2018.

Premier Smith, as such indicated that “in order to comply with Section 49(3) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007, I advise that the appointment of Hon Ronnie W. Skelton be revoked and that Hon Melvin Turnbull be appointed to the post of Minister for Health and Social development for the said date.”

    Hon. broad minded and courageous Ronnie, be careful of this move, you may not have a ministry when you return. Will Mitch be paid as a minister for that?. Trying to buy over Mitch but he will be running with Ronnie party

      @ Outlaw. Oh Gosh Man! Can you read? The article clearly states that the decision was made by the Premier in accordance with the Constitution.
