Hon Malone touts partnerships to improve healthcare delivery

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone(AL), has committed to mobilize all available resources, internal and external to the Ministry and within the legal parameters of the office, to secure the well being of everyone residing in the Territory, in addition to increased partnerships in order to improve the healthcare delivery services in the Territory.

Hon Malone gave the pledge during his inaugural address to the House of Assembly (HoA), following a modest, yet historic swearing-in ceremony for members of the Fourth HoA, venued at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex, yesterday Monday, March, 12, 2019.

Ministry Philosophy     

According to Hon Malone, “it will be the philosophy of this Ministry to collaborate and engage with all who are genuinely committed to building the healthcare delivery system.”

He suggested, “I have full confidence in the talent that resides within our civil service.”

Hon Malone used the opportunity to advocate that “proper standards and due-process must be clearly established!”

According to the Health and Social Development Minister, “I aspire to support our public servants in re-channelling their passion of service to the sick and down trodden.”

Partnerships

He posits, Non-Profit Organizations (NGOs) play a critical role in the recovery process and that, “they are partners in the delivery of social outreach and support – by embracing each other we can ensure maximum results from our collective efforts.”

He said too, the private sector also has critical roles to play by being socially responsible and by partnering with them, they will provide expertise to boost capacity for delivery of government’s strategic national goals.”

The Minister was adamant, “when all is said and done, we have a Territory to build and a destiny to mold.”

He suggested too, “whether or not you voted for me or for any members of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), it will take each of us to complete the tasks that lies ahead – for none of us can do this alone.”
