Hon Fraser Basketball League ready for tip-off on August 31, 2018

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - It will be another two months of exciting basketball games in the Virgin Islands (VI), with the continuation of the Honourable Julian Fraser RA, Save the Seed, National Basketball League.

The League that was cancelled in 2017—following the devastation of the Territory by two Category-5 Hurricanes Irma and Maria—will pick up from where it was discontinued last year, this Friday, August 31, 2018, with all games being played at the Save the Seed Energy Centre, in Duff's Bottom.

There will, on Friday August 31, 2018, be a brief opening ceremony with remarks from the two Directors of the League, Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) and Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church and founder of the Save the Seed Energy Center, John I. Cline.

Chairwoman of the Hon Julian Fraser, Save the Seed League Committee, Ms Khalid T. Fraser, said she is looking forward to another “exciting season” and that all teams must continue to be “disciplined and be respectful to each other and the rules.”

Exciting weekend of games

On the opening night—this Friday—there will be two exciting games. There will also be games in the Junior and Senior Leagues during the weekend on Saturday and Sunday.   

The schedule for the rest of the regular season will be released shortly.   

The Hon Julian Fraser, Save the Seed Basketball League was founded in 2013, by Third District Representative, Hon Julian Fraser RA and founder of the Save the Seed Energy Centre, Bishop John I. Cline.

The Basketball League is governed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules, endorsed by the BVI Basketball Federation and has its own by-laws and governing Committee.   

The tip-off scheduled for the first weekend, August 31, 2018, to September 2, 2018, is as follows:

6:00 PM:              Brief Remarks, Hon Julian Fraser RA &

                           Bishop John I. Cline- Directors/Founders

6:30 PM:              DA 3RD vs Young Empire

8:00 PM                Warrias vs Knights

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2018

5:00 PM:              High Speed vs East Cavaliers

                           (Junior Division)

6:30 PM:              Jr Bayside Blazers vs Beast Mode

                           (Junior Division)

8:00 PM:              Bayside Blazers vs We Dem Boys

9:30 PM:              Splash Brothers vs Momentum

 

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER  2, 2018

5:00 PM:              High Speed vs Beast Mode (Junior Division)

6:30 PM:              Warrias vs DA 3RD

8:00 PM:              Bayside Blazers vs Knights
