Hon Fahie warns voters of ‘Smear Campaign’ to hijack Elections
The Opposition Leader, in a social media message issued on August 9, 2018, has since condemned, what he called the “vicious and divisive” message being circulated recently and perpetuating an, “outdated, unproven and unsubstantiated allegations against me and my family.”
Hijack Elections
Hon Fahie said the latest ‘smear campaign’ is, “a desperate attempt by destructive individuals to hijack the next elections.”
Speaking frontally to the allegations levelled against him, in the circulated messages, Hon Fahie said, “…for those who may not know, this is old news, which has been making the rounds every election since 2003…Fifteen long years and the best and only shot they can take at me is an allegation, which resulted in nothing.”
Addressing the timing of the release of the ‘unsubstantiated allegations,’ the Opposition Leader said, “…it is commonly known that desperate people, do desperate things and this is no exception.”
Several critics of such 'tactics' have laid blame at some elements in the National Democratic Party (NDP), as being responsible for spreading 'lies and propaganda' because they have nothing to offer the people of the Virgin Islands (VI)
The Opposition Leader, in fact posits, in a direct swipe at the ruling NDP administration, “…this appears to be their new blueprint…destroy British Virgin Islanders who are brave and strong enough to speak out against their abuse of power."
No Exception
According to Hon Fahie, “their disrespect for the people, their lack of appreciation for morality and the peoples’ fundamental belief in good-governance, their lack of respect for accountability and our Territory’s human resources, reveals itself in everything they say or do."
This recent act, he said, in reference to the ‘smear campaign,’ “is no exception.”
He said, “…for years I have repeatedly called for greater transparency and accountability; elimination of nepotism and conflict of interest; and the full disclosure of contracts, including those illegally awarded” and “I knew my family and I would become victims.”
Hon Fahie notes however, “the cowardly attacks (are from) people who do not have the Virgin Islands at heart….the truth is, I welcome this opportunity to finally begin the process of fully disclosing the originators of this witch-hunt, that has caused my family countless hours of grief and has stained my name.”

He mussi like man
This is how your vicious and divisive messages and unproven and unsubstantiated allegations sound and feel to the families of the members of government. What goes around comes around.
I hope this will stop the tearing down of each other and we can hear some vision and goals for a brighter future for our beloved country.
This is a laundry list of problems that will require practical solutions. Consequently, the territory needs a leader(s) that has affordable practical solutions that will improve citizens’ lives and advanced the territory forward out of the doldrums. Politicians should debate issues that are pertinent to representing the electorate, making it and its family lives better. The politics of personal destruction has no place in BVI politics; falsely smearing one and one’s family without supporting facts should be out of outbounds and residents should not tolerate it. They must demand substantive debate. The Machiavellian approach, ie, by any means necessary, is out of bounds. Let’s be aware that we wear what we buy, make your bed hard and lie in it hard. Cast aside the “ pickanagar” campaign of yesteryear and embrace a new progressive campaign today. The campaign among combatants will be adversarial but it should be based on policy(s).........etc.
" Ministers of government or their close affiliation aligning themselves with companies that are benefiting from government contracts, ministers of government forming companies in other persons name and awarding contracts to themselves, permanent Secretaries been part of companies that are getting government contracts"
This is exactly what was detailed in the US investigation. With that airport telecommunications project. Maybe you should read it again!
I pledge my entire family support for Hon. Fahie the V.I.P. I cannot wait for him to be the next Premier. Keep up the good work Hon. Fahie.
