ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA) or Parliament will meet again on Thursday November 15, 2018.

This will be the Third Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Third HoA.

While the Order Paper has not been made public, HoA Spokesman, Mr Linton V. Leonard, confirmed in a release that the main purpose of the session is to pay tributes to the late former Legislator Honourable,  Delores Lettsome-Christopher.

She represented the Fifth District.

Hon Christopher died on October 16, 2018 and was buried on November 3, 2018 via an official funeral.

She was first elected in 2003 to 2007, with the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP).

She lost the 2007 General elections, but returned in 2011 to 2015 and was re-elected in 2015 and served until her death.

The Late Christopher was overlooked for a Ministry after the 2011 and 2015 elections and told our newsroom that when she was finally offered a Junior Ministry position by outgoing Premier Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL), she turned it down.

She spoke truth to power about NDP failures

About a year before her demise, the late Legislator starting speaking out in public about the wrong direction the NDP was taking the country.

She lambasted the Smith-Administration over the Recovery Board, mismanagement of funds, lack of funding for projects in her district and pushed back at Premier Smith as residents suffered hardships even as Dr Smith  claimed the “economy was robust.”

Ms Christopher also served as Deputy Speaker of the HoA from 2011 until her passing.

The session will start at 10:00 AM and will be carried live on 90.9FM.

People need to stop waiting until someone dies to honor them. Delores needed her respect and appreciation while was alive not now when she can't even see what is happening.

The Rev James Cleveland song:”GIVE ME MY FLOWERS
    WHILE I YET LIVE
SO THAT I, I, I CAN SEE THE BEAUTY
    THAT THEY BRING

    FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES
    MAY GIVE ME FLOWERS
    WHEN I'M SICK'
    OR ON MY SICK BED
    BUT I'D RATHER HAVE
    JUST ONE TULIP RIGHT NOW
THAN A TRUCK LOAD OF ROSES
    WHEN I'M DEAD

    SPEAK KIND WORDS TO ME
    WHILE I CAN HEAR THEM
SO THAT I, I, I CAN HEAR THE BEAUTY
    THAT THEY BRING

Ok. Too often, at funerals and retirements, much crocodile tears are shed. And no sooner than these events are over, our true emotions and feelings come racing back. Let’s be real and give our heroes and sheroes their flowers while they are alive so that they can enjoy and appreciate them. This HOA meeting is for the Hon Delores Lettsome-Christopher’s family and friends, for she is resting in peace and don’t know what is occuring.
