DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - The highly anticipated Eighth Sitting of the Second Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) will re-convene at 2:00 pm this afternoon, June 3, 2020, at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom, Tortola, where the motion moved by Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) to reprimand the Governor over his handling of the BVI Airways Audit Report will be debated.

The motion was moved on May 28, 2020 and seconded by Opposition Member Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2).

According to Hon Fraser, the Governor appeared to have acted with neither regards for the law nor the desires of the HoA when he held on to the report for almost 3 months, ultimately resulting in the late tabling of the report.

Debates to commence

Given the Governor received the report on February 7, 2020, the Statutory deadline for the report to be tabled before the HOA should have been May 7, 2020, however, the report was only delivered to Cabinet until April 23.

According to Premier, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1), Cabinet having received the report so close to the statutory deadline was not enough time to comb the document and still call a sitting of the House with 10 days notice.

"There is no question, there is no excuse for us to be here four months and one day after the report was received... for something that should have been done within three months after being received by the Governor," Hon Fraser told the House.

House Speaker, Hon Julian Willock accused the Governor of interference with the legislature, when he said Mr Jaspert tried to 'strongly urge' the HoA to meet so that the statutory deadline of the document could be met.

Stream & Watch Live

Today's sitting will be aired Live on the House of Assembly's YouTube page, ZBVI (780 AM), CBN 90.9 FM and FLOW TV Channel 101.

Who is the complainant? who suffered loss or harm? Was the allegation investigated? Who are the witnesses? Who will reprimand the Governor? Probably I am just ignorant but this should listen too.

Mr governor, I must apologise as I may not always have had the best things to say about you. They say the first impressions are lasting and I remembered when you first arrived and the role you played after the storms. For this, I will remember you and I thank you. The problem now is there seems to be an issue with becoming out of touch with the community. I wanna see you, hear you, interact with you. Who are you as a person? How do you feel about your time in the BVI? Generally, how are you and your family.

Time to get back down to earth with humanity and show our leaders more love and appreciation. The ramblings I think should stop now and the change starts with the people.

Fraser, dont stir up strife nuh man. I dont think we need that right now and as someone rightly pointed out, you like to be late for the meetings of the house, you like to leave midway, you like showing all kind of disrespect when certain members are addressing the house. You sit from the backroom but you listening. Please, help to put a stop to your nonsense.

    Thank you.
