CAPPOON'S BAY, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has praised the vision and tenacity of the late Chief Minister Honourable Hamilton Lavity Stoutt, who he said equipped the territory to face challenges ahead, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Premier Fahie’s remarks were made while delivering an address at the service to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of Mr Stoutt on Monday, March 1, 2021, at the Cappoon's Bay Recreation Ground on Tortola.

Presently there are no active cases of the virus in the [British] Virgin Islands.

“H. L Stoutt understood that the most powerful part of your body is your mind. So I get excited during these time because he also built an economy. You see when you can build people, and they can feed their family and get good jobs? You build an economy. He built an economy so much that our people later on were so equipped that we were able to band together and fight COVID-19 to the point where we have zero confirmed cases in the BVI,” he remarked.

“It didn’t just start now; it started because he educated his people to the point where he fulfilled his God-given mission, so he strengthened the economy by building the people,” the Premier added.

HLS saved lives

Premier Fahie said the late leader played his part in saving lives.

“That’s why I get excited during this event every year because God uses the time to remind us that once he gives you the vision, then he will give you the provision, but he cannot give you the provision if you do not move forward with the vision. God made it possible through HL Stoutt, and HL Stoutt made it possible by being the conduit to allow God to use him to better and empower his people,” he reasoned.

“So really and truly he saved lives because there were a lot of persons who could not afford to leave the BVI to even get an associate, but HLSCC made it possible,” the Premier added.

The event was held under the theme: Defining the vision: ‘Empowering my people.’

Utter nonsense. How would Lavity have faired if there was a COI in his time? Possibly worse.

You obviously did not do proper research because if you did then you would not blog that ignorance. Lavity went through worse than CoI.

He has set an example for future leaders to follow and all after him has failed....His biggest attribute is that he was a very good sales man,,, He knows how to sell his vision, his plans and get the people behind him, he never believe in excuses and always changing his mind or his plans, he was very thouhhtful,, he always come acrosss as compassionate..., his strengths are your biggest weaknesses.,,

I don’t think HL Stoutt would of sold us out like you my boy, he probably would have been like that African leader who said there would be no vaccinations in his country until further studies had been done on the vaccines, but you have your own people convinced to take an experimental drug, you should be ashame

to@letthechurchsayamen: You sound so stupid saying ...people both from the island and local u cant let myron get in or
anyone like him regardless of where they from........if you are asking island people not to allow Myron to get in you shouldn't be asking them to vote for any local person because the voters should be categorized just like Myron, ISLAND PEOPLE,,,,, you dumbo. Shoving them with one hand and pulling them with the other. Just using them for your own gratification. Sick of you all with your discrimination, that is why England coming for you, like it or not.
