ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands Department of Disaster Management (DDM) through the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has issued a warning for hazardous sea conditions over the weekend of December 28, 2018.

The release says, “A strong high pressure centre close to the area will cause the pressure gradient to steepen.”

According to the DDM, the condition will generate moderate to fresh breeze becoming strong by tomorrow, December 29, 2018, and will transport low level pockets of moisture over and around the islands.

“Subsequently as a result of the wind speed increase, sea conditions will become challenging for mariners. Possible rainfall total for the forecast period is 5 to 8 mm or 0.2 to 0.3 inch,” DDM says.

As such, mariners are encouraged to take extra precaution on waters.
