‘Half of HoA members are political criminals’ – Ishmael E. Brathwaite
Ishmael E. Brathwaite made the scathing remarks during an exclusive interview with this news site last week.
Brathwaite is part of a six-person group hoping to contest the June 8, 2015 elections under the name People’s Progressive Coalition Movement and includes Khoy Smith and Bro Abdul Shabazz. He had told this news site that while they wanted to field a full 13-member slate, the abruptness of the announcement of the date for the elections left them with little option but to contest with what they had so far.
“We think that in the current legislature, more than 50 percent of them are political criminals and they are not being processed because of the fact that they have similar people on both sides of the isle and it is out of control because one cannot check the other,” he said.
Asked to name the persons to whom he was referring to, Mr Brathwaite said he was not prepared to do so and neither was he prepared to say what offences the persons are alleged to have committed as he said stating the offences would be identifying the people involved.
“When you start stating those issues you’re almost calling people’s name. But it is no secret that certain people have done certain things and they need checking,” he said.
Brathwaite said that in the past he has been subjected to “certain kinds of corrupted behaviour which the public does not know on the part of some present sitting HoA members.” He said that he did not expose them because he was not running for office and therefore had nothing to gain from the release of that information.
Commission of Inquiry a missed opportunity
“So I never did release any such information. But I am telling you now that up to half of our legislature are eligible to be prosecuted,” he said. He added that there was an opportunity to investigate some of them when the Opposition was asking for the Commission of Inquiry on the cruise pier project but that did not happen.
He alleged that when certain members of the HoA saw that the Commission of Inquiry was not going to happen, they got more impetus to continue what they were doing.

Besides you are a POLITICAL COWARD, not stating who the "criminals" are, knowing you would be slapped with a defamation suit, unless you could provide the evidence to back up your assertions.
