ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- At around 9:00am, August 29, 2019, Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert, along with Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities Hon Kye M. Rymer ((R5) and Deputy Director of Public Works Mr Kurt Hodge, commenced an aerial inspection of the territory following the passage of Hurricane Dorian.

Dorian passed over the VI as a Category 1 storm, causing flooding in some low lying areas, hillslides, and even lifted roofs from some structures on August 28, 2019.

The inspection team is being flown in a Royal Navy helicopter.

From on the ground observations, our news desk can confirm that all major roads on Tortola are passable, thanks to the quick work of essential workers.

    Today we saw a genuine need for the helipad close
    to the hospital.
    Could drivers please be more conscientious and
    stop parking on it? Bout time.
