ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Our reliable sources within the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) have confirmed that cancer survivor and campaigner Gloria A. Fahie is considering running as an At Large candidate under the Virgin Islands Party banner in the upcoming general elections.

According to sources, Ms Fahie is fed up and frustrated about the direction of the country and has expressed her strong consideration towards contesting.

Ms Fahie is reported to have said she is concerned about the fact that locals can't go on certain beaches and the state of education regarding the extra year, which she believes should be given in the earlier level and not the high school level.

According to sources, she is also fed up of the taxes levied on the small man and expressed that she would work to reverse these upon taking office.

Contacted yesterday May 3, 2015, Fahie told this news site that while a number of persons have asked her to run, she has not made a decision.

The list of VIP candidates for the upcoming elections is expected to be made public on the night of Wednesday, May 6, 2015 after the governing body of the VIP, the Congress, holds a meeting and elections to ratify its candidates.

The House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands was dissolved on May 1, 2015, paving the way for elections to be held sometime in late May or June, 2015.

According to the Virgin Islands Constitutional Order of 2007, a general election shall be held at such time within two months, but not earlier than twenty-one days after every dissolution of the House of Assembly, as the Governor shall appoint by proclamation published in the Gazette.

It's here democratic right if she choose to enter politics and it's good to see the citizen of this country still have the interest of their country at heart and is willing to throw their hat in the ring to effect change for all of BVi to bebifits not like the NDP who only enter politics for them self, friends and family, we want a better BVi for every one not just the NDP.

Is there a preliminary election where many candidates gets whittled down to the top two or three three?
If not that someone can win at large with only 20% of the people behind them. Make sure everyone gets
a say, not just the strongest lobbyist.

Hundreds of belonger cards are giving out today and tomorrow by the deputy governor and the premier office to allow expats to vote, while I have no problem with expats who are qualified for the status, the NDP government is using this as a means to encourage expats to vote for the NDP to make up for votes they would have lost from the bvi voters, the NDP is prepare to do anything to ensure they hold on to power and the money of the bvi, we must be vigil in encouraging people to get register, check the voters list for padding and vote the NDP, out of office, the NDP dissolved the government because the go****r inform Dr. Smith that the education minister and the speaker of the house has to step down because the breach the Constitution, Dr. SMITH allegedly decided to dissolved the government to save face and also to avoid accounting for the hundred million spent over the pass three years.

That is a LIE! The people who are getting Belonger status got it in the right legal manner. The only difference is they were approved close to election and either party would like them to process their status and register to vote. There is nothing illegal about that.

may be legal but if the machine changes the procedure and most belongers are big developers, makes sense that they are needed to keep the gravy train running.

If the people don't wake up it'll simply be their lost. Unfinished cruise pier opening, overpriced fireworks, announcement of dissolution of the House of Assembly, announcement that voter registration closes on Tuesday, belongers cards giving out like crazy, the day before registration closes all while waiting for the Premier to call election. Elections, which can be anywhere from 21 to 60 days. Hell man, if you all ain't scared some sh.. really wrong with y'all.

The community cannot have people with insular taught about their own neighbors running to represent the people . To be a leader you have to have a good heart. That behavior ruins a nation
