Fredericks guides Royal Knights to win over Cavaliers
Having asked the Cavaliers to bat first, in the Premier Division encounter, the Royal Knights bowlers made steady inroads into the batting line up and, although giving plenty of second chances to their rivals, restricted them to 203.
Teddy Nankishore top scored with 72, including 9 fours and 5 sixes, but it took some late pyrotechnics from Vishal Bharat to take the score past 200. He hit a quick fire 33 with 2 fours and 3 sixes, whilst Murray Ollivierre was the pick of the bowlers in taking 3 for 37.
In reply, Royal Knights were given a solid start by Ryan Mangal (48, 5 fours and 2 sixes and Sunni Haridal (30, with 3 fours and 2 sixes), before Man of the Match Richard Fredericks guided his side home with an unbeaten 89, which included 6 fours and 10 sixes.
Under The Tree defeat Island Stars
In Division One, Under the Tree captain Emerald Prince also asked the Islands Stars to bat first and then bowled them out for 191, with two wickets each for Rudolph Davis (2/38) and Travis Jack (2/31).
Ricardo Noel top scored with 63* (11 fours), Lenroy Murray added 42 and Elcuis Phillip, 38* as they rebuilt the innings from the depths of 38 for 5.
Man of the Match, Prince, with 77 (7 fours and 6 sixes) then added 170 runs with Tim Samuel, who hit 54, to take his team to the brink of victory, before the winning runs were secured with just 5 wickets down in the last over.
“We had a plan today,” commented Prince. “We were always going to bowl first after the rain livened up the pitch and our bowlers did their job. We have a good side and are now full of confidence. Our aim is to reach the Premier Division and this win gives us a great chance to now reach the play offs and do just that.”
Elcuis Phillip picked up a couple of late wickets for the Island Stars.
