Former Customs Officer R. Ashford Lettsome passes

LITTLE DIX HILL, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islander and former longtime civil servant R. Ashford Lettsome died peacefully at his home yesterday Wednesday November 23, 2016. He was 71 years of age.

Mr Lettsome, who spent over 30 years as a civil servant working at Her Majesty's Customs, moving up over the years through the ranks, retired in March 2002 at the level of Assistant Controller.

He is survived by his wife Mrs Lucia C. Lettsome, herself a former senior civil servant, along with three children- 2 sons and a daughter.

During his retirement, he dedicated his time to his faith attending the Church of God in East End on the main island of Tortola.

Mr Lettsome is also known for being very active in politics and is said to have helped elect many who represented his Seventh District and the territory.

More details as to funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days, according to a family spokesman.
