Fly Jamaica crash lands in Guyana

TIMEHRI, Guyana, SA - A Fly Jamaica airplane heading to Toronto was forced to return early this morning, November 9, 2018, to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), in Guyana, where it crash landed leaving six persons injured.

They were all taken to a nearby regional hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.

The company in a subsequent statement confirmed the incident and reported that all 118 passengers and eight crew members had been accounted for.

According to reports the flight departed Guyana at 2:10 AM after which the pilot reported experiencing hydraulic problems and requested permission to return.

Upon returning to CJIA thee plane reportedly overshot the runway.

Fly Jamaica in its statement following the incident said, “We can confirm that Fly Jamaica flight OJ256 bound for Toronto has returned to Georgetown with a technical problem and has suffered an accident on landing.  At this time, we believe that all 118 passengers and 8 crew members are safe.  We are providing local assistance and will release further information as soon as it is available.”
